So i just got photoshop 7.0 and know pretty much nothing about it. Could anyone tell me how I can make a color photo black and white and have some of the original colors as accents? kinda like this...
First of all, open the photo you want to edit. Select the part of the photo you want to stay coloured with the lasso (highlighted in the picture). You could also right click and chose the polygonal lasso to so straighter lines. Also the button above can select parts with one click. One you have that part, copy and paste it onto a new layer (highlighted in the picture). Go back to the layer with the part of the photo you want to go black and white and press Ctrl+ U, or Image, Adjustments, Hue/Saturation. Move the Saturation bar down to left (-100) and press ok. There you have your picture. =3
You are welcome. =3 I didn't even know myself till I went on photoshop the other day and fiddled around with things. I love finding new things out.
Also if you go to Image. Then Image Adjustments. Go to Replace Color or Selective Color you can eccentuate certain existing colors. Also to the the best quality of your photos. Go to Image, Image Adjustments and Levels. Uusually I bring each marker to the highest point on the graph to fix the contrast and bring out the colours your camera couldn't pick up to well. If you don't fell comfortable doing it manually go to Auto Levels instead. It's under Levels and notice the wonders! Ask me if you have a problem. And congrats on getting Photoshop. This is one my rituals in Photoshop and you will find some yourself. Things you must do to every photo to bring it up to standard.
I got Photoshop CS2 just a couple days ago. I have no clue on how to do anything on Photoshop although we're learning some stuff in school right now. I don't know if this is useful to you lakeoffire but there's some good tutorials on www.goodtutorials.com. It's pretty much all Photoshop tutorials, and there's a variety of different types.
