I especially recommend the Esoteric album, though Draconian and Swallow the Sun have their moments as well.

If any of you missed it: you must all listen to EVOKEN as well.

Hmm, let's see good doom metal for me is Katatonia, Swallow The Sun, and Agalloch.

I still haven't checked Agalloch. I like Katatonia though, especially Viva emptiness.

If you're into Swallow the Sun, you'd definitely have to try Saturnus if you don't know them yet. They're pretty awesome melodic death-doom metal and they write very memorable songs.

What is so special about Esoteric is how fucking SCARY and threatening they sound. It's extremely slow torturous funeral doom with a psychedelic twist and the sickest, vilest deathgrunt you're likely ever to hear. You should all just download an album of theirs, have some weed or shrooms, turn off the lights, burn a candle and listen to them over the headphones (maximum volume does indeed yield maximum results), see how long you last before you turn the light back on in panic.

I don't care much for doom/death, or funeral doom for that fact. Esoteric are one of the few of the genre I like. Bands that have started in that genre, and branched out, Katatonia, Tiamat, Paradise Lost, I LOVE their more commercial stuff but still hate the early stuff.
Totally for the more stoner/sludge variety of doom though, some of my favorites.

Yeah, like I said, I prefer Katatonia's later stuff as well, and the same goes for Anathema and to a lesser extent for Amorphis. I'm not really familiar with Tiamat and Paradise Lost.

I'm not really into stoner/sludge either, nor drone. But who knows what tomorrow may bring.
