hey guys. basically im planting in a acre or two of very thick sticker bushes. They come up about chest level and there is a nice field of them. I was going to go in and dig a 15-20 holes, but now im thinking of ways to save me having to do that, especially because its gonna be physically hard to dig holes in this very thick stickers. I was wandering if i could just take some bagged soil and just make a semi-raised bed on the ground in these stickers. I would usualy say dont do it because it sticks out like a sore thumb, but i doubt anyone has a reason to come into these stickers and you cant see at all when looking from the outside of the field into the stickers, especialy anything at ground level. Does this sound doable? maybe simply dumping a bag of soil and pacting it together well so the wind doesnt blow it everywhere. i did this with one little plant last year and it worked, but it was a ver small plant. maybe even making a box out of some logs and planting in that. good or bad ideA? thanks alot.
Sounds like it would work. I would dig the soil up a little bit under the mounds tho. Also, try using local dead leaves and sticks to put on top of the soil as a natural mulch, it will help keep in moisture, prevent some weed(the bad weeds)growth and camo your mounds.
