In general, what really grabs your attention in a song: the rhythm and beat or the lyrics? Does it depend on the individual song, or do you find yourself judging the quality of all songs based on one of those aspects more than the other? For me, it depends. It is a mix of both the music and the lyrics, of course, but some songs I am focused more on the lyrics than the music, and the other way around.
i am focused on both at one time.. i must have some sort of special power to notice both at once because i can pick up lyrics in almost any song. and lots of them you cant tell what they are saying... i have a huge passion for music. thats what im going to college for right now to be a music recorder, producer. 1 more year left. wooo
Music - and definitely melody and atmosphere over rhythm and beat - because I listen mainly to music in which A) the lyrics really aren't that important, B) sometimes bordering on the idiotic, C) mostly not even decipherable (grunts & screams), D) half the time in a language I don't know, and E) a lot of them I strongly disgree with anyway.
It depends. I focus more on the music I suppose, but I love how lyrics and music can intensify eachother's meaning.
In general, most of the music I listen to is purely instrumental. (mainly Baroque and classical) and I don't even like the singing of those styles. However when I listen to songs that have lyrics, I like to have a good combination of both.
It depends, really. I pay attention to both aspects of a song equally. It's hard to say... It often just depends on my mood.
It depends for me. Usually, since what you usually hear in the beginning of a song is the melody, then thats what catches my attention, and then the lyrics are what determine whether or not I like the song, and will continue listening to it. But on rare occasions, the melody won't even catch my attention, it's the lyrics that do. So it depends for me.
