Hello I am soon to graduate and have been commissioned for a project that focusses on documenting real life stories of muslims in the UK who have a story to tell. This will be published as a compilation book and distributed across the world. This is an exciting, international project thats intriguing, thought provoking and revolutionary, yet mantains the respect that Islam and all religions deserve. The book will be entitled (working title): Not your average Muslim - Amazing real stories of Muslims in Britain I am looking for muslims in the UK who have a story to tell - and get their story off of their chest. 100% discretion is assured - this is guaranteed and you will have full approval rights of your section of the book before it is published. I am particularly looking for muslims in the UK who in some ways 'live a secret life'. 100% Discretion and Annonymity Assured * Maybe your gay / lesbian living a double life? How does Islam fit into your life? Are you concerned about the future? * Maybe your a narcotic / drug user that you cannot speak to anyone about? Does this affect your islamic / family life? * Are you a single muslim unmarried mother? How is this affecting your life as a muslim and within the community? * Are you in a serious relationship with a non muslim but your family won't agree? * Maybe you work in the sex / glamour industry to make some extra cash * Do you have any other story you'd like to tell the world, without necesarily revealing your identity? I'd love for you to get in contact, this is your chance to be involved with an exciting project that is forward thinking, thought provoking and relevant to todays society and life Drop me an email: notyouraveragemuslim@googlemail.com Should you need any more information, please feel free to contact me. Looking forward to hearing from you Kind Regards Rayan Jawad
I just wanted to say that if someone commits a sin, it is considered a form of forgiveness if Allah keeps your sin hidden. To expose your sins even if people know who you are or not hurts yourself and it hurts the Islamic nation. This is clearly going to be used in an anti Islamic book so why bother helping the kafrs taint our religion. Rayan, do you really expect to get alot of muslims emailing you from this site anyway?
Id be careful emailing you in that for all they know you could be some crazy fundi with a axe, most likely your not but Islam does seem to attract the sort of people who would do that sort of thing I know when they have tried to make shows on the 200,000 islamic apostates in the uk ,people like the bbc had a really hard time getting people to be interviewed . Islam is more like the mafia than a religion its nothing to do with freedom just a form of slavery, really you have a hard time telling who is a muslim or is just pretending to be out of fear . Id try some of the forums set up by apostates, faithfreedom.org is popular ,apostates of islam had a forum not sure if its up at the moment. not all the people on those boards are apostates you have some people who could be classed as living a second life , some people practice quite a individual form of islam then you have quite a lot of lurkers and some mainstream muslims who come to debate with the kufr There are sites for gay muslims I think their nuts to still want to class themselves as muslims but they are out there The worry I have is yes there are muslim or people who might class themselves as muslim who say eat pork while making a gay sex porn films , but I dont really see them as anything but deluded in calling themselves muslims . I used to be a morman and someone who say drank and was a homosexual would be so far out of the church teaching that I dont think they would be a morman at all . and to write a book suggesting that that was part of mormanism would give a false view of the religion , and I think your doing a simular thing with islam . if you choose to have sex with men or make porn films or something thats a major sin in islam and dont stop how do you justify calling yourself a muslim
This seems to me like keeping skeletons locked away in the cupboard. It's just a form of denial that these things go on to try to keep it hidden. In my view it precisely such attitudes which make Islam look repressive and even silly. To 'expose' your 'sins' is actually a very theraputic thing. To hide them is dishonest. It's no use presenting a kind of facade for your religion which is entirely contrived and false - not in this day and age.
Em no, everyone knows that no one is perfect. I think what Ali has said makes perfect sense though: A) Do your best at all times B) If you make a mistake, try correct it C) Go back to doing your best at all times Why is someone being dishonest by not wanting others snooping in their business. Thats like saying "not allowing me to look into your bedroom while you make love to your husband/wife" is also being dishonest, when in fact it is not really any of my business, IT IS PRIVATE AND PERSONAL.
Irish, I think it would depend on what we mean by 'sins' - Islam for example, says homosexuality is a sin - but in modern western culture it's no longer thought of that way - excepting among the religious of some persuasions. It's been legitimated in law and so on, so I wonder if it would be that bad for a muslim to come out publicly as gay? If it was a muslim politician for instance, they could get 'outed' by some 3rd party, and then they just do look dishonest like it or not. There are many other such possible scenarios if you think about it. Also, 'confession clears the soul' - it's good to get things off your chest sometimes.
Snake, you are entitled to your own opinion. If you think its good to tell people about your sins, so be it. I am going off of the teachings of Islam, and since your not a muslim, maybe hat does not make sense to you. We believe that the devil always assaults the human being and tries to trick him into commiting sins. When the devil first comes to the person, he says "go ahead, buy that alcohol or sleep with that prostitute or steal from that store, no one will see you". Then if the person commits the sin, instead of accepting Allah's grace and mercy when he covers the sin for that person, the devil comes to him and says "You must get this off of your chest' then the person goes and tells someone he got drunk or stole something. Now the person has to deal with the problems this will bring apon himself and his family. Also Snake, you have to understand why exposig your sins the way Rayan wants people to is harmful. As a muslim myself, I myself feel like my religion has come under attack lately. Many other brothers and sisters feel the same way, probably 99.9% of them. The enemies of Islam are trying to spread many lies about the Islamic faith, lke its a part of our religion to kill women and children, we want to conquer the world, we treat women like dogs, and the list goes on. If a muslim decides to confess their "secret life", they are now helping the non muslims with ammo against the muslims and Islam. Do you really think a book like this would have any other purpose but to attack and denounce the Islamic religion?
The devil is a figment of the imagination. So I can't really take very seriously any ideas based on belief in the existence of such an entity. It seems to me that what you're saying here is meant to encourage a basic dishonesty, and promote a false image for your religion.
