Hi, my name is Al and my favorite style of music is Punk Rock, I was wondering if there were any other Punk Rockers like me out there. Punk rock is freedom to me and freedom is art. If there are some of you out there, what do you consider some of your Favorite Bands and what is punk rock to you?

when I was 14 or so I discovered punk, this was still the 80's, and I loved it. It really helped me expand my veiw of things...at first. Made me question what I was being taught and that is a good thing. But as I got older and the scene prgressed I noticed how closed minded and fake all the punks I knew were. I moved on to other forms of agressive music. Then on June 1ts 1991 I went and saw the Grateful Dead at the LA Colliseum and that changed my life forever. I didnt ever give up anything that was me, punkrivetheadthrashmetaldeadhead, I just grew past the limitations of the scenes I was exploring were trying to limit me to. Now I Just claim Music lover and thinker. I am happy, and Punk was the gateway drug that brought me that happiness. Yes I willl always love punk, but I do have an affinity for 80's old school.
DI, UK SUBHUMANS, CRASS, RAMONES, UK SUBS, Original VANDALS, BLACK FLAG, MINOR THREAT, CIRCLE JERKS, UNIFORM CHOICE , SEVEN SECONDS ADOLESCENTS...etc.

yeah i used to be really in the punk scene also, but for awile it was wearing me out and brought me down and such i still have my leather jacket ive been thinking about giving it to someone, but dont know who it has spikes on both collor flaps, it has studs going up the left sleeve , a vice sqaud no reason for concern back pacth, and a subhumans logo painted below that. bands i used to listen to in my punk days where crass, ramones, subhumans, dk, dri, old misfits, black flag, uk subs, doa, one way system. buzzcocks, tsol, mostly old school, it really sucks i heard some of thease newer punk rock bands and ive met a few and there just complete assholes, i mean i met alot of good punk rockers, but met a lot of bad ones that more less tryed to fit in with the stereotypical punk rock, i agree that punk rock is freedom, its just like in the mid 80s when the goth scene came out, every 10 years it seems something new comes out and its all about the same ideals, i mean the goth thing there about freedom to i gueiss. i wonder what its gonna be next. sorry iam rambling again

I enjoy it... But its really hard to like a genre of music, that is so defined now by its image and attitude..I once asked this guy at my school who constantly wears a leather jacket with a studded anarchy sign on the back with a mohawk what bands he listened to...expecting to hear something along the lines of the subhumans..the anti-nowhere league, discharge, lower class brats or a global threat..he mentioned went on and on about rancid and "some" older blink 182. Now, im all for punk rock freedom. But it's really unfortunate the line that has been drawn straight through mainstream fashion...symbols that are now placed on shoes..on jackets..just as a symbol...nothing more. I love'd when punk rock made a difference. If you compare the underground hip-hop culture and the punk rock culture...both involve making changes, just going abou it differently.
I just reciently read this book called American Hardcore A tribal history by Stephen Blush..if you're bored sometime....It's an interesting read.

    nice post.

Interesting views, I might actually try to look for that book too, it sounds quite intriguing. I dont even dress punk that much, i focus more on the music than the fashion. I listen to all punk, Black Flag, The Ramones, The sex pistols, The melvins, Alexisonfire,Anti-Flag, many many more. I still think its making a difference but i see where your coming from with the whole "just as a symbol" thing, thats just really sad. To some people punk rock has become sort of a mainstream fashion, image, and attitude. Not to me.

'punk rock' is so lame. I hear in punk songs about how you should abolish the government, and hate authority, and how the government lies to you. But do you see them out there protesting? No, punk=$. They have you fooled. These people are on major record lables, and they tell you that corperations are bad? Think about it, punk lacks balls.

Exploited - Beat the bastards is great. I also like Dropkick Murphies, don't know if that's punk rock.
