Has anyone heard of this? I would strongly recomend viewing the trailor for this film. It's about the capitalistic greed of hospitals & doctors, insurance companies etc when it comes to giving birth in america. here is the synopsis from the website: Pregnant in America examines the betrayal of humanity's greatest gift--birth--by the greed of U.S. corporations. Hospitals, insurance companies and other members of the healthcare industry have all pushed aside the best care of our infants and mothers to play the power game of raking in huge profits. His wife pregnant, first-time filmmaker Steve Buonaugurio sets out to create a film that will expose the underside of the U.S. childbirth industry and help end its neglectful exploitation of pregnancy and birth. And though he set out to fight the system, Steve finds that he and his wife must depend on it when a hospital struggles to save their newborn daughter's life. Pregnant in America is the controversial story of life's greatest miracle in the hands of a nation's most powerful interests. here is the link to their myspace http://myspace.com/pregnantinamerica
Thanks Lucy! I haven't heard of the film, but I will definitely be watching for it. I definitely think that the American medical field is out for the bottom dollar, and while it's horrible for everyone, I think it's especially horrible for parents. Right when they need stability, and someone to trust, parents are thrust into this blood sucking, hectic world where they are exploited for every dollar they have. Parents of brand new children need to keep those dollars! I'm 19 weeks pregnant with my second child... I made the choice to have this one at home long before I even became pregnant. Maybe watching this film will help more women make the choice to birth their children outside the medical establishment as well. You should repost this in the Parenting Forum... There are lots of pregnant moms there who would like to see this, I'm sure!
