hey if any one out here knows if this actually works that wouldbe sweet but i heard if you use a 400 watt hps, but also use a couple red lights it will actually increase the amount of THC in the plant, but i dont know about this 1.
i was also wondering what you guys use for plant or pot food that you dont have to buy over the net cuz i still live with my parents. if any 1 out there can help me out that would be great thanks...

I do believe the %THC in a strain is genetically determined. However if you mean larger buds thereby more thc then I have heard that as well. Usually it is by putting in a metal halide in with the HPS.

the only thing that comes to mind with the red light is with the orange and reds you are mimmicking the suns natural fall end of season light.that is why you use hps bulbs orange and red light spectrum for flowering and use metal halide blue spectrum (spring). As for more thc because of the light i belive that is controled by genetics but you might increase bud size. Just beware that incandeccent light are very inefficient and give off lots of heat
    HOPE THIS HELPS

Yes, the potential for any cannabis plant to produce THC is largly determined by genetics. That's why hemp strains wont get you high and white strains will. But it's the environmental factors that provide the actual limiting elements as they apply to the plants developement and growth. In other words; if a plant doesn't have it's six basic needs supplied, it wont live long - if it doesn't have it's basic needs supplied in an optimum balance, it just wont live up to it's potential.

Certain wavelengths of red and far red light can be used together to trigger a plant to "go to sleep" faster when the lights go out. This allows the plant to be tricked into flowering with much less than 12 hours of darkness. However red light wont do shit to increase THC production. For that job you need the other end of the spectrum.
The cannabinoids (THC and all the others) are primarily produced in the form of the sticky resin we all love so much! This resin is produced as a defense mechanism against Ultraviolet light, which can be harmful if excessive. Many grow lights are extreemly weak in the UV part of the spectrum and may benefit from the addition of "proper" UV-B reptile lights.
