I suppose this could be considered a bit of a regression (im afraid of being called stupid...so im pointing out the ignorance of mon question before anyone else does xD).

Note: Ive done no research on this...If the topic which shall follow has already been discussed, excuse meh. It just popped into my head a minute ago and, well, im lazy.

    So...

Its purported, I guess, that acid allows us to examine those little facets of our minds which we often miss in everyday happenings. Hidden (from the typical mind) going-ons.

To take acid is to consent to the examination of yourself, by yourself.

    I think o.o

Now...said simply, cant a person examine their own sentience and what without the aid of some...transoceanic gizmo (note: I just wanted to use the word "transoceanic" xD)? Im sure that we can get on with the whole self-realization process without the help of a drug...though, im sure that acid can certainly benefit that process.

But I think its George Harrison (it probably wasnt) who said something like...well, I cant remember. Though it had to do with the idea that acid is not the ultimate answer...or that it doesnt show the answers to things, but only gives a glimpse of the possibilities which you on your own must fully uncover, and enact.

    Meh...

That all sounded sucky >.> What are the thoughts of you folkses?

it's kind of like when you lose something and it's right in front of your face but you just don't see it.

you probably could examine yourself just as fully without chemical help as you could with it, but you'd have to use outside resources because you'd be blind to what you're familiar with. basically, you'd have to use a mirror to see yourself instead of seeing yourself from the inside out.

This is similar to what John Lennon once said. "Once you get hip, you don't have to use LSD, the same state can be it reached be meditation, martial arts, yoga, etc." I totally agree with you man, I'm sure it could be done, its just all a matter of openning up enough and forgetting the surroundings of your everyday day world to the point where you can do some soul searching inward. I'm defiantly not at that point yet.

Ooh...Good words, the both of you o.o

    Alrighty...

So, you could say that to truly understand yourself, youve got to go through a rather rigorous process...and that acid is just a sort of tool to aid you?

Sure, there are plenty of other methods...

Buddhist meditation works great for me. To be honest I consider psychedelics supplements for my meditation...That and a lot of fun along the way of course, not going to deny that :p

As you say, psychedelics give us "glimpses of the possibilities". That's how it is for me anyway. But they could never ever replace the meditation...Instead they just help keep me on the right track...
