Ive started doing dreads the natural/neglect method with just using dr. bronners liquid soap. Ive been reading that you should wash your hair 1-2 times a week, but ive found out that if i dont wash my hair every day it gets really greasy.

So should i keep washing 1-2 times a week or like every day? I thought i read that your hair will stop producing alot of oil after you stop using shampoos with residue. So do i just need to stop being so impatient or wash my hair more?

When did you last use regular shampoo? It might take your hair a while to get used to it. Maybe try dr bronners every second day for a week and see how it goes, over time you will need it less often, I used to wash mine every second/third day and now I only wash when I get the itches which is about once a week.

What flavour/scent bronners have you got?

the last time i used a regular shampoo was about 3-4 weeks ago i think. I got dr. bronners lavender and tea-tree (gotta use the tea-tree since im getting itchies pretty bad and dandruff).

You've just gotta push through it :D Everytime you wash it, it'll strip down your hairs natural oils. Your hair will just adjust to how much you wash it eventually. I used to wash every 3 days, but i found it did more harm than good (i backcombed though, not sure about natural *shrugs*) Now i wash every 2-3weeks. Everyones different though, so just roll with it i guess.

for now, definitely do it every other day/every day if you want. Use sea salt water too, that worked like a fucking chaaaarm on my hair.

At the begining I had some trouble with greasy hair since I have naturally oily hair. I was told that if you increase your hair washing to every other day for a couple of weeks then slowly increase the number of days between washings that your body's oils will adjust to that and not produce so much. I tried it and I only get oily if it has been almost a week between washings. If nothing else works you can always give this a try. Good luck!

I have naturally greasy hair after a couple days it can get bad. I've been washign every other day to every 3 days and that seems to be keeping it at bay. I plan on reducing that as my dreads mature more.

I went natural too and I didn't start using bronners until about a year in because it also leaves my regular hair quite greasy. I used all natural shampoo until I had more dreads than loose hair.
