Do you live to work, or do you work to live??

Well, my boss lives to work, and thinks that everyone else should, too. (yeah, we dont get along so well) Apparently, me taking time off is a "problem". Sorry, is it a problem to live life?? I mean, I thought that was what we are here to do !!!!

I'm sorry to vent, but this really chaps my hide......I just got word of this "issue", and I just need to vent.

I wont expect anyone to answer to this thread.....I just need a soapbox to shout off of.......

Venting is healthy. It is best followed up with some good waves.
    That always makes things better.

don't let your boss get to you, people like that just don't understand what the need to live and be free is. NO matter what you say won't change his mind so you just have to do what you gotta do. Life is short just live it.

I think you have the right idea. Life would be pointless if we all lived to work. There is a lot more than that, although livelihoods do depend on working. Everyone needs time off to protect themselves from overloading with stress, and some people apparently fail to understand that concept.

I used to live to work, but now I'm retired and live to just live. Work around the ole farm is much less stressful and at a real slow pace.
Everyone needs to slow down and take time out for themselves though.
Take long stressfree vacations whenever you can.
    Peace....

Oh man, few things are worse then having a boss that thinks everyone should live to work! I feel for ya ;)
I don't work to work. I work to live. Working is healthy though, in my opinion. But I certainly don't want to overdo it, and I also think we shouldn't. :D

I work to live. I don't live to work nor do I ever think I will. I do what I enjoy, and sometimes you gotta work to enjoy life.

Wow! thanks guys for your input....I really wasnt expecting anyone to respond......but it is great to know that I'm not being a "lazy bum" just because I hate being part of the "system". I just feel like there's something else for me out there....now I gotta go find it.

Oh yea.....it doesnt help that my boss is a speed freak.................

I have always worked to live, and because I learned at an early age to simplify, and always buy secondhand when I can, I need very little money to survive, so I don't have to work very much to make ends meet. This lesson just keeps on teaching me to stay light, and live with just "needs" as often as possible, so I can be free to enjoy my life, and not be a slave to materialism, rent, (I have lived in tents and now a schoolbus for 30 years), or superfluous spending on items that are not necessary, and just require more hours of living to work, instead of working just as much as you need to live a "simple" life.
