Have you ever wondered why? not about just one thing, about everything, why do we cut down trees for no reason, and why do all polititians come up with such retarded laws and rules, and why we litter. Dude i think about all that all the time, there is no real reason for it, and why the fuck do we have to have such nice things, not stuff we need, just stuff we want and just stuff we think we need, i tell you that not a day goes past that i don't go for a nice walk and end up on a road. Three quarters of those people are just traveling to destinations that will benefit them, that will better their own life. They go off and buy all this stuff, nothing important, nothing that will help them survive throughout the year, just stuff, and alot of the stuff that they end up with is harming themselves. Like cakes man, sure they may taste good, fuck they taste great, but why do we need them? Years and years ago we were happy living on nuts and berries, and water and fruit, but now you stand in the middle of the street and look around and you see people stuffing themselves with crap, you see litter and wrappers of all kinds of things but how often do you see an apple core on the street, shit if they are so worried about polluting the earth, then they would get much further by putting the whole population on a diet of apples and oranges, and carrots and meat and water etc, why the fuck do we need our potatoes cooked in a certain way, or our carrots peeled and cut and cooked? we Don't it's just we think that we do, cos we like things our way, cos we're pussies. and we only care for ourselves, no other species just ourselves.
Death is inevitable, we know that unless we survive for 8 billion years till the sun burns out we are going to destroy ourselves. Don't fear death, if you really need help accepting this inevitability join a religion.
Yep, we don't need any of it. I totally agree. We need some things to get by. The rest is just excess. It's our own selfish indulgence that has done this to the world. More and more people are waking up to it though. Can we change something that may in the end wipe out human kind, or, at least, change life as we know it for all time. The events that are gonna unfold in the next few years will shock us all. Already scientists are seeing things happen that they predicted to happen over a hundred years. They took less than 10 years. How scary is that. Is it too late...
I know what you mean. I too have often had many thoughts about things that you've mentioned. But I believe society has gone too far now to go back.. It's a sad thought. But if you sit and think for a moment. Will people suddenly wake up and want to change everything around?
Who says you have to live that life? Only YOU decide how YOU live. Many people are trying to live the life they think they want. Working their life away and stressing themselves out to try and make money to buy things they think will make them happy.
Yeah but how much freedom do we actually have to live life the way we want to? You know several months back I took a decision to completely change my life and turn it around, but it is only when you look at things head on that you really realise how limited and restricted we are in todays societies. I was fed up with the way I was living. I wanted to "break out". But to do anything I needed a fair amount of money. Now I realised that doing any sort of unskilled labour I would not get paid any more then the minimum wage (even that if I was lucky), and working on that wage it would take me years and years to save up enough (considering I have to support myself now also). So I went to college and took up a course in order to get qualified for a trade, however all the courses cost hundereds of pounds, going back to the original problem of not having any money, and soon I had to drop out the course. Alas I am stuck, doing shitty jobs when and where I can get them and most of them jobs that I don't particuarly enjoy, until I save up enough which could take years and years. In todays society are we really as free as we might think we are?
The way things are currently going- I highly doubt that will ever happen during mankinds existence on this planet. It sickens me also. At times it disgusts me so much I hate to even think about it.
Your post shows that you care. And caring is the only thing that is going to help. You and I and others who see the world as you do are living amongst a tribe of spoiled rich kids and trailer trash. While we see what is real, they see what they think they want and are slaves to their desires. So, you see, even tho it seems that we are not particularly free, at least we do not need to be slaves to OURSELVES. Otherwise there would be no escape at all... Little Jack, your heart is in the right place, but you are still a slave to the idea of having enough money and enough education to make things right. Because all your ideas of "breaking out" require the very things you wish to break away from. You could be caught in this trap for a very long time. You need to search for alternative lifestyles. It is possible.
We can do something about it if we try. Don't give up. I definitely think about how evil the world is and it makes me angry or sad. The last time I just had it all on my shoulders and I cried for a good long while. But thats because I felt like a tiny speck. Why does evil have to rule the world? I say we have to come together to make a change. Too many people give up. So lets come together!
You are only as free as you allow yourself to be. Had you invested in that course chances are once you were credentialed the work would be outsourced and you would have to recertify in something else. You know that manual labor you don't wish to do...sometimes it's the most satistfying out there. If you choose to enjoy each morning and make enough to meet your basic needs you are ahead of the game. Most trees that are cut down are cut down for one reason or another.
It's our living against the world that is doing us in. We're at war with the earth. We're competing with plants and animals for space and food. We keep them off our land which is not rightfully ours to begin with. We take and take, never giving back. We hoard food for no reason other than the urge to procreate and reassurance that something is there. The lioness never has to worry about going hungry. She only hunts and kills to satisfy her current hunger, not to hoard for later. She knows the food is always there if she needs it. In the natural processes of life, a law dictates that there must be a limit to every population. We can't keep allocating more and more food, as it only makes us grow and grow. Look, sending food to africa does nothing for those people. Their population is in the process of leveling off to a sustainable amount just as any other organism would--until we send food for this year. They proceed to increase their population until they need more supplies to continue the cycle--all the while, they cannot survive on their own. We need diseases, we need food shortages. Only because we need balance. We must live by the laws of life, just like the animals do. The same laws do apply to us, as much as culture would love to argue with that. But we can continue to, in general, do what we do as long as we change how it is done. The world does not belong to humanity. The world was not made with any particular species in mind, no matter what you believe. We've got to follow the rules! Live with the world, not against it!
