Do you remember Cousin Brucie and the Dancing? How about the salt water pool and the french fries with vinegar?
Not me but I've heard of 'Palisades Amusement Park' because it was always being advertised in vintage 'Superman' comics.Plus Freddie Cannon had a big pop hit about it.
hi topper wow...thanks for bringing this up. we used to go there all the time for the rock shows. we saw everyone there. i think sonny fox also did shows there. of was it clay cole? it was such a great time. i had never had fries like that again until they opened a small place near me a few years ago that just sold "real" french fries with vinegar. brilliant idea! we weren't allowed to swim in the pool. my mom was too germ-phobic. but it was the largest outdoor salt-water pool in the world, at least according to their ads. they have a website and the best part of it is that it has all the jingles that used to play on radio and tv. here's the link: http://www.palisadespark.com/ "palisades amusement park..swings all day 'til after dark..."
Hi Topper - Hey, I remember Cousin Brucie, as well as Palisades Park! My family used to travel to New York every summer because my father was a professional musician and had an orchestra that played at this resort hotel on the Delaware River. He'd rent our family a house in the local little town, and my sisters and I would run around and play with all the local kids - we used to have dances every Friday and Saturday night on the Andersen's porch - they lived in this HUGE old 3-story house that had a porch that went around the entire house! We'd play 45's and dance to things like "Blue Velvet", "Palisades Park", "I Can't Stop Lovin' You", etc. I'm going way back now! But we used to listen to Cousin Brucie on the radio every day - was it "WABC" that he broadcast from? Boy, the good old days - thanks for the trip down memory lane, Topper.... Sincere Regards, Michaela _____________________________________ "They will never make a perfect heart until they make one that can't be broken." ........ it was wabc..he was their dj for the prime time hours at night. here's a few links for listening to old cousin brucie shows. the first is from 1968 and it's a complete show i think from that year. the second link is from wabc's "beatles page" and has links to lots of interviews and jingles that cousin brucie did. it's amazing how listening to this stuff can zap you back to that time period in a few seconds. http://musicradio.computer.net/brucie68.html http://www.musicradio77.com/beatles.html
not my part of the world, but i do remember when any city worthy of the name had them and they all had train rides of some kind. =^^= .../\...
Ah, this is New York? I was thinking of Pacific Palisades Park in Santa Monica, CA. Which had the roller coaster/rides and what not as well. Wonder if financially they were affiliated? Yeah, was good times on the west coast too.
