One of my roommates gave me a violin for a pre-birthday present last night. he hid it in one of my guitar cases. it seriously been the best gift anyone has gotten me in a looooooong ass time. i didnt even get any musical instruments last christmas or anything. now i just gotta master it. i got so many instruments to master now...bass, theremin, violin, drums. i need to quit work and spend the summer just practicing music.
jesus. he GAVE you a violin?! lucky bitch. how wouldd you pay for rent/living expenses if you don't work?
That's truly a great present. The violin is a beautiful instrument... I used to fuck around with a friend's electric violin... I think I broke some eardrums with that one, but my friend in a Bro-Drone band really liked what I was doing Anyhow... have fun and happy early birthday.
Violins are swell. I'm more of a viola person, personally, but violins are beautiful instruments. You're lucky!
That's so cool! I always wanted to learn to play the violin! I played the flute and the piccolo, but I always loved the violin! Such a beautiful sound!
I can deal you some fiddle, but I need like.. violin, dobro, banjo, mando, dulcimer... etc. I need to collect all mah bluegrassy/folksy instruments. Shrooms and such helped me learn the drums. I was never much of a percussionist, beforehand.
on monday at the lovely Velvet Elvis i had such a fun time listening to the folksy music when a guy i met there jumped up on stage and started playing his fiddlin pauly take from him..learn this fine instrument ad start jumping up on stage with fellow musicians and play that violin with soul
Yeah, you might as well smoke meth if you're smoking straight resin. You can really tear your lungs up if you don't be careful. Man, I love thunderstorms... We're having our first few since last summerish... I love it when it's that time of year when hot and cold fronts slam together and there's just that... feeling of returning home again. I guess that's why I love living down South. People are always like "don't you miss the winter?" etc. but there's so much more than that. So many angles, man. Coming down from trips while listening to thunderstorms is pretty breathtaking, as well. It's like "Hi God. How ya doin" Dang man, I just saw a lightning flash that took up the whole window. You couldn't even see out, it was so bright. Snap, I thought I heard hail, for a second. I didn't realize how much I missed thunderstorms.
i havent seen a thunderstorm since arizona. they get pretty crazy over in the desert. i would love to trip in a thunderstorm
Haha, yeah, it's a really amazing environment... Man, yeah... I never really thought about how thunderstorms are in deserts. I've never really experience desert deserts.... living in Alaska, just as I never really have gotten to understand rainforests, as there are rainforests in Alaska and BC. I wouldn't mind chilling out in the desert sometime. I think Tim Reynolds lives in New Mexico, but he used to live out here, near Charlottesville, VA... oh shit... phone
That's funny. I used to live in Annandale Virginia, now I live in Roswell New Mexico. Biggest differences between here and there: The stars are amazing out here. More relaxed pace of living. Almost zero culture in Roswell though. (Unless you count aliens on lamp posts culture..) And as far as storms... Roswell doesn't really see storms. Rain is here and then gone just as fast as you can blink. Oh crap! Totally hijacked this thread! I originally intended to just come in and say how awesome a new violin is. Cause it is awesome. Specially as a gift. Kudos man!
Ahah... I remember when I was chilling down on Hatteras Island one time I was on this pier and I was fishing. I saw one of those "CounterCulture" surfing stickers on the rail and I got a knife and started arranging letters differently and left "CultureCounter"
cool beans i can just imagine you playing that PS. I listed to Damien Rice - Delicate today and it totally reminded me of you... I wish you could sing it for me again
I's been playing that shit for 9 years now. Tell me what kind of stuff you want to learn to play, and i'll see if i cant point you in the right direction for books n things. General tip: if it's arranged by edward huws jones, it'll be good.
