Got my nose pierced yesterday. With a gun. Didn't think it would be a problem as the place I went to offered me it for less than the needle. But I just read online that I have a 1 in 3 chance of getting a fatal infection because it was done with the gun. Is this true and if so what the hell should I do? I'm quite worried now. Help!!!

It's very much inaccurate, as are many things online. You have maybe a 1% chance of getting a serious infection, and even then, it's probably not going to be fatal. If you've ever had sex with a condom, there's more chance that you've got HIV from sex WITH a condom than from the gun. It's a very bad idea to get it done with a gun. But still, CHILL OUT. You're fine.

My nose was pierced with a gun 7 years ago and I never had an infection ;) It depends on ur skin and body's reactions...
But i don't think that getting pierced with a gun is more prone to infections.
Just take care and enjoy it ;)

There's gotta be somewhere you can call to report that shit.

I don't think they're supposed to be using guns in licensed piercing studios.

You might end up with a severely irritated nostril because you just punched a hole in your cartilage with a dull object, but other than that, I wouldn't worry excessively about infection.

It's not so much the worry of infection, moreso the fact that being pierced with a gun has a similar effect as blunt force trauma. It can damage the tissues a bit, but that's mostly as far as it goes. It won't do much worse than that! (other than maybe getting a small infection...but that happens with lots of piercings done by needles, too!)

you could get an infection but it would more likely than not be because of the way you cared for it rather than the fact that it was done with a gun. i would be more worried about whether or not my nostril cartilage had shattered from the trauma. just keep an eye on it
