Pay no mind to Maximus, he's admittedly a fascist. If he were in charge, anyone who disagreed with him would face a firing squad. He wants to be Francisco Franco when he grows up. IF he grows up.

you know........coming on here and posting with a holier than thou fucking attitude and assuming that people don't care is pretty fucking ignorant of you.....

    Grow the fuck up!

.....most of us have been active and informed about the Darfur crisis for years now, I'm really beginning to get annoyed at all these ignorant know-it-all fucking kids coming on here judging people and regurgitating information i've known for years, and making asinine assumptions......if you want to affect change.......pissing people who already agree with you off isn't the way to do it.

What the bloody hell are you talking about?

    Me? grow the fuck up?

who is the one who is acting like God now?

I'm an ignorant kid? Well, I might be, but at LEAST I'M MAKING A FUCKING DIFERENCE.

Again, you don't know me, and stop making assumptions about me.

And, If you've known about this for so long why have you done nothing?
Or do you just like to lord over people?

:/ sorry. Kinda lost my cool for a sec.

The title of your thread is Genocide-and you don't care. That's pretty fucking presumptious and rude of you, and yes immature.

    What is this babble about??

Well what difference are you making to your cause?? The only thing I have seen you do is accost, piss off, and attempt to alienate other protesters. I haven't seen one thing in this thread where you've mentioned what you have personally done......all your doing is preaching to the choir and judging people.

I'm not making any assumptions about you, my comments are based on what i've seen you post first hand, nothing else.

COMMENTS LIKE THIS IS WHAT PISSES ME THE FUCK OFF!!!! You assume other people have done nothing.......and that other people DON'T CARE, and you know NOTHING, YOU DON'T KNOW A GODDAMN FUCKING THING ABOUT ME OR WHAT I HAVE DONE AND WHAT I STAND FOR, SO DO NOT RUN YOUR COCKSUCKERS ABOUT THINGS YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT!!!!! FYI not only have I protested what is being done in Darfur, but I have been arrested while protesting what is being done in Darfur, I have had three disorderly conducts in relation to this particular cause alone, last year my wife and I donated $5,000 to Darfur related charities, the year before we donated $1,000 to Darfur related charities. My wife and sister were in D.C. protesting the Sudanese embassy on Friday when Charlie Rangel and 4 other congressman were arrested (I stayed home to take care of our young children), my good friend Alex Levis was among those arrested......so we have made sacrifices to inflict positive change, do not ever make assumptions about people without knowing all of the facts!!!!!!!!!!!!!

do you really believe marching on a building causes change? honestly, you'll get your 15 minutes of fame, than they media eye will be shifted towards other matters. IT DOES NOTHING LASTING.

& through which charity did you give your money? a lot of the time it goes straight into the hands of the Sudanese government...

Zoomie for once we agree - I will get a plane over there too and will meet you. Me, you, and your dog will take on the whole problem and end genocide. If that fails we could light a spliff for peace and then get on the next plane back where we will try to take on the army and push them out of their camps all the way to sudan

Holy F*n crap man! So far I feel that each and every one of you has made a valid point in some form or another :)

I'm just wondering if anyone has done anything specifically to assist with (let me broaden the topic) impact of civil war and genocide in various countries.

Also, I am purposely leaving out the effects of AIDS and other "manageable" diseases.

    Just curious.

One site that I absolutly love is www.thehungersite.com.

Well, I agree with dudenamedrob. I think you're being a bit presumptuous and holier-than-thou. I'd also like to know what exactly you're doing to stop it. Seems to me that you're just, as he said, preaching to the choir.

how can you possibly can go and fix the problem if we ain't got no clue on how to actually do it? it is pretty useless to scream and shout about the fact the world needs to be saved or whatever, these kinds of forums are places were people can interact on how to actually do something. think out solutions for problems together

The Sudan enjoys commercial contacts with China, to the extent that
it is insulated from U.N. pressure via China's veto. Leverage by economic pressure is limited.

China will host an Olympics in 2008, by protesting the Olympics we might leverage China to assert its influence to bring a peace to Darfur.

People are too afraid that by protesting on Darfur that they will align themselves with Bush, so they back off.

I've heard of Darfur and Sudan. Do I win a present?

Regretably I'm with Zoomie on this. We tend to assume that if something bad is happening on the global stage it's because our world leaders aren't meddling hard enough. In this case, pressure is being put on the nation, and they're just letting it happen. Realistically, without going to war with them (anyone want to speak out in favour of interventionist military foreign policy in a preachy thread about genocide? no, I thought not), there's a limit on what we can do.

I thought it was more that people don't know how they feel about criticising China for making the same dodgy allegiances that we in the West were making when we were at their current stage of development socially. So if we intervene, we have to feel guilty about it.

I can handle a bit of guilt though.

The UN wont do anything about it so long as China is a permanent seat of the UN's Security Council. China relies far too much on Sudan for oil Imports, and has a 900 mile pipeline + over a billion$ in oil resoruces invested in the country through the sudanesse government. Russia, in many ways a political allie with China, is also voting with it not to take any immediate actions, minus the ever polite cease and desist requests.
If you can figure out a way to get China to pony up, then you'll see action being taken.

It's kinda weird though. Far as I'm aware it goes "cease and desist", then sanctioning (which in this case would probably exacerbate the problem), then BOMB THEM. Is there some stage in that that I'm unaware of? Because I REALLY hope there is.

So why is the US so focust on "Saving" Israel?

Are the really in that much danger?

Of course speaking Non Supportive of Israel will get you branded Anti-Semitic. My Father is Jewish and does not support Israel. We were just speaking of what was going on in Darfur and how everyone is so worried about the mid east.
There is other shit going on!
