After watching CSpan on Parliament channel, I listened to a speech from this guy who referred to this being a forth anniversay. How many anniversaries will it take, as he went along.

Then suddenly there was bedlam as other mps started critising about tax and deficits. At this moment I tuned out of American political din and took away this man's words to heart.

I hope someday soon, Tony Blair will say them. Our troops are going out into a death trap. We cannot win the war because it is unwinnable. So long as there is occupation in Iraq by foreign troops, America and UK, the insurgents will continue to thrive. It is like a beehive. You have foreign invaders, the bees start getting angry. Once the invaders are out, the bees are happy again, eventually.

It is time we pulled our troops out as our men are fighting invain, there is no strategy and any that was before, is or has fallen to pieces. There are endless suicide bombers, and yet we lose even more men. We send in ten thousand, we only get back 2000. How many more death's will it take for immediate withdrawel to take place? We got Saddam, had him legally murdered by the courts of Iraq, hung and buried in his home town. His sons, one decapitated and the other hung.

How many more british servicemen do we have to lose, how many families must be torn apart before finally we can end this war? This is probably Bush's Vietnam and Blair's Falklands.

People's views please. Any families, or people who have lost their folk in Iraq, do tell here if you feel strong enough.

Additional: It is clear to me that this war in unwinnable. Each day, the British and the Americans lose another soldier, each day, a british or American family is destroyed, each son or daughter of a british or American soldier, a father or mother is killed.

Each day we fight this war, we seal our fate on both sides of the Atlantic. We seal a destiny into darkness, into death and destruction. Lets not just withdraw troops for the good of America and Britain, but for the citizens of Iraq. Let us end this war. In the end, we have no fate but what we make for ourselves. We choose the future according to our destiny. OUr destiny has been changing since the day you were born. But now we are aware of it, let us make another choice, for the best of all of us, Americans and the British-today!

I couldn't agree more, I would elaborate, but it'd just be reiterating what you said. All I can do is to urge anyone currently in further education to join school students against war, just go to www.ssaw.co.uk . We need your help.

Why do you want the troops home?
What is it to any of you if they are there or not?
Its the Queens army, she can move them where she likes and when.
Nothing to do with the people - government pays them, but their alleigence is to the queen

Moved: Parties and Protests is an events forum, not a politics forum.

But yes, I agree, troops do have to be pulled out. Most analyists, even the head of the British army, agree that their presence is exacerbating the situation. The battle to maintain order has been lost. Iraq is a failed state. If any power can emerge to restore order (probably not a democratic order) that will have to happen without further Western intervention....

At first I supported the war back in 2003, because I thought the only thing America were going to do was get Saddam Hussein and then leave. I never imagined this sort of chaos four years later.

Saw Blair on channel 80 this afternoon. Had a smile as wide as the Chester cat in Alice in Wonderland. As Blair was suggesting he will shortly not be the leader of the uK, but instead a Scot would take his place. In the banner, it said he would stay behind the wings until september 2007. I am not sure what our next prime minister will do with the troops. If he sends them home, I am sure this will signify a new dawn in this decade of war and fear.

Another few soldiers died this morning. Many were british and many were Americans. Men with families, men with children. I cannot believe this doesn't mean anything to our prime minister or to America's president. Surely the deathtoll would have prompted these two leaders to withdraw. One can only dream:(

The honourable friend who suggested the government pay for the war and the army is the Queen's army. Sure that is true with regard to the army belonging to the Queen, but we fund the government. We pay the taxes. I have heard people saying we are the government. Politicians simply activate the people's voice. That could be disputed though.

First off, what do you exactly mean by 'instad a Scot would take his place'? It makes you sound like that's a problem...Oh, and for your information, did you not know that Tony Blair is Scottish himself?...Typical English.

As for the war? I never supported it myself, but at the moment I feel that I'm stuck on the fence, so to speak, about whether I agree with the occupation or not. I feel that we've basically made a mess at someone elses realm and told them to clean our own shit up.

The trouble is, you can't clear shit from the carpet if you keep on crapping on it. Yes, we do have to put our hands up and say we were wrong. But the presence of our troops there is simply exacerbating the situation. If we pull out there may well be further civil war, but I think things will get worse before they get better, and us being there is not going to help in any way at all....

Personally, I don't take revenge unless it's affected me personally. Deaths in war is inevitable, and I would be a fool to want revenge on something that is always on the cards.

The strange thing is that the government has no hesitation whatsoever in using its troops against the populace when it feels that is necessary. If they are the peoples troops, dont you think the people would have representatives looking after their interests? Certainly not the peoples troops, these are funded out of money that is part of the funds the queen can expect by birthright, why do you think they are so adamant that tax be paid? why are they so vociferous in attacking those who dont pay tax (the unemployed, and tax dodgers)?

Protest wont help, they use the troops to protect their heroin in stan
and their oil (BP) in iraq

Remember wealth isnt money, its raw materials - you get it free from the ground and sell it on !!!

The truth is the majority of peoples kids and wifes etc were not killed - the majority started their killing spree because they believe in jihad .. or are anti west - even before we set foot over there.
    ---------------------
Should we really appease those bees - J0hn. How can it be our fault they are killing their own people ?. Less excuses for these idiots please.

Maybe we need a referendum about 'bringing our troops home' - as i do not believe 69% [recent poll] want the troops home - neither do i think all the families feel the same way.

I think the warped news has made this conflict into something it is not - balanced reporting would be good.

Saying all that i do think our troops should come home asap - that ofcourse is the plan anyway.

''How many more british servicemen do we have to lose''

I'd ask - removing personal prejudices - should it [''bodycount''] be a factor in determining how the situation is going or what we should do.

Supposedly the more deaths - the more we should be requesting our troops home.

The sad truth is that the insurgency and the Jihadi terrorists do not care how many people are being killed - as they would put their guns/bombs down and start talking - if they did.

The goverments on the whole do care - but the cold hard truth is they will notch up their ''bodycount'' to ''collateral damage''.

If we look at it coldly - less than 8000 civilians have been killed by ''shock and awe'' .

How many died because they had no time to remove themselves - or had nothing to do with hiding terrorists or insurgents - we will never know.

That obviously is here nor there - innocent people have died as a result of our invasion - this should not be baggaged together with the thousand upon thousand of civilians that have been killed due to terrorist/jihadists killing - for political / religous / ideological reasons - nothing to do with our invasion.

I'm sure the excuse of ''well if we did not invade'' will be banded about - that negates the fact that if the goal of the terrorists/jihadists was to propogate a ''Free Iraq'' for Iraqi people - they are hypocrites. We should not be held accountable for those deaths.

The truth is not many people have been killed as a direct consequence of ''our'' actions.

The majority have been killed by the actions of others - with motives of their own.

So we should not put the ''bodycount'' into the equation imho.

It made more sense when I was typing it.

What I meant was that I don't have a feeling for revenge unless someone has done something that directly hurt me.

I don't feel it's my place to feel revenge for other people. I can feel sorry, and extremely angry and upset, but to want actual revenge I would find hard to do.

The question is to what extent was civil war a predictable consequence of invading? And the fact is there were plenty of voices warning that this was a likely outcome, and plenty of people criticising the apparent failure of the coalition to come up with any meaningful plan attempting to replace the power vacuum which would follow the removal of an entire regime and its social infrastructure. Attempting to remove blame from the invading forces for the situation which has come about as a consequence of their actions is mealy mouthed and disingenuous.
