    well i'm sorry but i absolutely don't buy that. i know what we are capable of and what we are doing to ourselves and how completely unneccessary it is to continue doing so.

    idealism ain't got shit to do with it.

    shortsightedness and thoughtlessness, granted there will likely always be SOME of, but there's nothing inevetable about their being a cultural value.
    (and it ISN'T all that universal of a one. just one that permiates the culture that has come to be dominant. and i'm not convinced intrinsic to its doing so either)
    that's just a scape goat excuse for continuing to tell ourselves and perpetuate the lies we've been enculturated to.

    I agree, and I don't. Other social experiments are possible. Look at the Bolsheviks. Very interesting...

    And yet, in all of human history, not an example of viable entirely non-oppressive society. Our population seems to grow with violence...

    I'm convinced, we're not bonobos...otherwise we'd move to the tropics, pick fruits from the branches of trees, and fuck all day.

    What proves to me about violence: psychoanalysis.
