Dreadlocks terribly fucked up

Thanks for all the positive words, reactions and comments. I have one other question though.
At the end they become very thin because the hair is knotted together higher up. Any solutions for that problem?

 

i just let mine go at the ends.. ... i aint that high a maintainance person I would spose its all a matter of how ya want your tips to look as to what you do with them..

I actually prefer lose ends, they go kinda curly and cute....dig on those loose ends 'cause it takes loads of work & time (so i've heard) to get them to stay tight. Bird, you are going to look AMAZING with sweet nappy dreads! i can't wait to see them grow!

I did the same thing, I didn't wash it for about 4-5 months, except my hair is so thick and curly it kind of just knotted together in one gigantic dreadlock. It was very nasty. I was actually able to get most of it unknotted thanks to the help of a patient girlfriend, alot of olive oil, and some painful ripping.
