One of my favorite bands of all time! I looked through like the last 5 pages and couldnt find anything about them, I found Mudvayne, Slipknot and Marilyn Manson, All these bands rock but I think System is a lot better than any of them, Includeing their last 2 CD's. I think those are just as good as their older ones, There so Crazy!!! Anyone like SOAD here?
Yea i do they are a great live band but I am sure someone will come here soon to tell us that SOAD are not really metal.
Yes, that would be me. Naw, never really paid any attention to them. Can't say I liked those things I did hear. Most serious metalheads don't include nu-metal in the family tree of metal.
You mean most narrowminded metalheads. I admit that most numetal is very bad but you can say that about all the different types of metal. really metalheads are the most elite type of music listeners of them all. I do not see the point of limiting to what I listen to so other metalheads think I am cool. along with metal I listen to punk, alternative, classical, some country (jonny cash),blues, native singing and drumming and other things which I have no idea where they fit. I think that the metalheads who claim if you listen to things which are not metal that means you do not like metal as much as them are funny. and you can not say that numetal is not in the family tree maybe a unwanted mistake child but it is still there. beside I really do not think that SOAD are trying really hard to be metal they mix alot of different things up and that why I love them plus they are one of those bads who are even better live.
I think they belong in the alternative subforum actually, but I probably stand alone in this. Ontopic: I don't really like their music.
It is actually the new trend for metalheads to broaden their musical horizon by listening to various other genres, but thats cool. Regardless of what you subgenre you slap on soad, they still have the most annoying vocalist ever to hold a microphone, and if you think that they really hate the usa, or the "System" or whatever, you've been fooled. If they were truly against such systems, they wouldn't be selling their product through a huge record label based in america... But, their image sells product and therefore they're pushed by labels.
I have never heard of that being a new trend and I have recently met many of the elitist type I mentioned but I honestly have no idea about new trends anymore. I actually like the vocals alot but I can understand why you would hate it. and for the whole image thing, yea I agree with you on most points, they are alot like rage against the machine (who I also like) but I think you can still hate America while being capitalistic. yes they are raising alot of money through taxes of albums and concerts for the USA. but it is also hard to get a message across to the masses with using a more do it yourself approach which I am sure is the angle they use when confronted. regardless most people do not pay attention to any of the lyrics. anyways, i like the music alot and I have fun singing along in the moshpit and thats all I really care about.
Agreed wholeheartedly. Nu metal is more akin to alternative rock than to metal. @ Komokwa: Apart from metal I like lots of folk(-rock), psychedelic, and blues rock, a bit of classical (Beethoven, Haydn, Shostakovich...) and the rare contemporary artist or band, like Tori Amos, Electric Six and Placebo. So I'm not limiting my tastes in order to fit in and/or be tr00, either, in case you were wondering. This isn't a forum that draws many true metalheads, as you might imagine.
Thats cool. To ensure that I don't fall into people's stereotypical metalhead mould... I listen to classical music such as bach, mozart and vivaldi, various classic rock artists, jazz such as Jaco Pastorius, various old blues artists, very little country (steve earle) and minimal rap artists, though Cypress Hill amuses me...
Haha, I like some Cypress hill as well. Not that song, more of the stoner shit, Busted in the hood and stuff. Not to often though.
wow I forgot about cypress hill, i used to listen to them when I was 13. haha that brings up some stoner memories. looking at the bands posted here and the alternative section I think SOAD belong here more. Anyways I think they should group up, the rock, punk, alternative and metal groups into one big one because all of them are not very active and i think they have more in common then differences.
i can easily put soad under the metal category or i can settle for alternative metal *ok i will stop with this technical boring stuff :& * though yeah i really like them i enjoy the music and the way they blend in opposite sound ranges *very adventures indeed*
i love system of a down bigtime! there different and the rock hard and loud. system of a down kicks ass.
