http://www.yourdailymedia.com/media/1176468411/Safety_Saw this amazed me. its some seriously cool technology
Wow that is so fucking amazing !!!!! There are some really clever people in this world and again its the simplest of ideas thats the greatest I think it works the same as the circuit breakers in a mains switch where they cut out instantly
i think you would probably need a new blade to reset it. which is no big deal considering that you just saved your self a shit load of pain and medical bills.
I am just speculating here but there are obviously many flaws with this design. What if you are cutting conducting materials? Wood itself can be a conductor when it is wet. I don't see this technology implemented in industry, maybe for home use. But then, how many people out there actually use table saw at home?
that is cool. but I am sure it goes off on accident alot to certain things besides a human.. and that would suck if you were in the middle of a project. I also wonder how many people test it out and see if it works and actually get their finger cut off. lol.. Great idea though
Here are the "test" cases for the SawStop. http://www.sawstop.com/why-sawstop-testimonials.htm It works by jamming an aluminum block againest the blade, so I assume the blade must be replaced and the block is toast. A new block is about $70.00 and must be replaced after each stop. http://www.sawstop.com/how-it-works-overview.htm I saw one of these at a show once, looked like a nice machine.
This is all really nice, but as someone one who uses a table saw everyday, I'd like to state that sensible people keep their fingers out of the blade. EDIT: That was mean, sorry.
hahaha you can imagine that company showing you all the "test pilots" they used who have got no fingers now. Its thanks to Ken "fingers" Brown, and David "all thumbs" watson that we were able to develop this saw, now give it the thumbs up lads, oh I forgot you cant !
Great for playing practical jokes on people???? wow also entertainers could do magic trickery with it !
