Yea i really do. I have read a few books here and there but in this life of mine i havent read shit you could say. I have had alot of time these last few months and i just get bored to shit everytime i read. I dont know if its the quietness when i read (i cant read at all with alot of noise) or if i am just bored reading period. Now the reason i post this is im hopeing in tips or anything to get me to enjoy reading more. Being in college now i have come to realize my reading skills are terrible. Its what i like to call it "a shitty situation." I am 150 pages away from finishing the The Stand but once nick got killed i didnt really want to finish lol. Anyways does anyone have any advice to help me enjoy reading more?

Hi, broony. Maybe you could join some kind of book club? Sometimes such book clubs give you worksheets with in-depth questions about the book, you may just need to be pointed in a certain direction when you read (they also sometimes have these study questions in the back of the book). It's like those people who enjoy going outside for a walk, but only if they have a destination in mind. Right now, reading is like going on a long, endless walk for you, and I think it's normal that your mind just checks out.

However, if you have check points along the road when you're reading, then you can stop, rest, and reflect on what the book is about, why you are reading it, and if it's still worth it to continue. Sometimes you'll find that you're "done" reading the book before you hit the last page, and that's not always your fault. Sometimes it's the style of writing, sometimes it's whatever else is going on in your life...Heck, sometimes, you and that book just aren't well matched. And it's okay.

Another thing that may be happening is that you're getting caught up in the hype. If you have some problems with focusing and concentration don't start reading books that are 300-500 pages. Start slow. Also, don't read books that you're truly not interested in just because you think they make you look smarter, or because friends suggested you read them. All this anxiety is just making you feel bad about yourself in the end, and right now learning to enjoy reading is what's important. It shows alot that you are willing to ask for help, it takes alot on your part.

If you made it to the end of this long-winded message without falling asleep, then you already have what it takes, you're a natural born reader! ^^

If a book doesn't 'grab' me with the opening sentence then I'm lost to it. Try reading short stories.
