We are staying at the Movenpick Amsterdam Centre (even though it isn't in the center). We are renting bikes and already have a pretty full agenda. Her and I coudn't think of a better place to have our honeymoon.... Thanks to all of you for your help in the other thread getting this organized!
congrats and have a great time! make sure you take a tour of the tulip fields, they should be starting to bloom. oops...just noticed your dates, tulips will be over by then, regardless have a fantastic time.
Niandra: First off, Congratulations. Do you mean The Sea Palace? I had a bland meal there in 2003. I found this restaurant to be overpriced and the waitstaff was unattentive and slow. This place is touristy. However, The location is nice and the view in the evening is pretty, just wish that my meal were tastier. Book table ahead of time if you decide to go. I know other people who had good meals there. Might just have been a bad night for me.
Thanks guys for the congrats and suggestions. We are so excited. I am planning on doing a daily video blog for our local NORML chapter. She is secretary and I am president of the Joplin, MO chapter of NORML. Gives something for our supporters to look forward to when the US finally taxes and regulates it. What are some really good, cheap places for lunches?
Also many little sandwich shops around that sell 'broodjes', which are small sandwiches. You'll see lots of people walking/biking around eating those at lunch time. Enjoy Amsterdam!!
Also try Lunch cafe Singel 404 if you're in the Spui area. Very close to Tweede Kamer/Dutch Flowers with nice, inexpensive eats right beside the Singel in the zonneschijn (if you're lucky). Around the corner from the Dampkring are the best fries in town on Voetboogstraat, and right next to that is Wok to Go, a quick, cheap, and tasty Chinese food chain.
Be excited!! You'll have a great time in the NL. My honeymoon (1999) began and ended in Amsterdam, so I know what it's like. Since you like cheap Chinese food, try Little Thai Prince, located on Zeedijk along with a few other good places for Chinese. Little Thai Prince is located on upper Zeedijk, while the others are lower on Zeedijk. Chinatown is around Zeedijk/Geldersekade and Niewmarkt. It should be easy to find something cheap and tasty. My last post named the place Wok to Go, and (sorry) it may actually be Wok to Walk. Either way, people like it, per this review from the web... Wok to Walk is undoubtedly one of the best quick restaurants in Amsterdam. The food is spectacular and made right in front of you in a under a few minutes. The staff all speaks English also. Enjoy your visit to the NL.
