ok let me explain, not art art, but art class, and the entire education system. i have to write an art evaluation for all the work ive done for this course and ive got this list of points ive got to cover if i want to get a good mark, one of them is did you enjoy the assignment? argh! wtf is the point... everytime i put something that isnt along the lines of yes everything is perfect, or whenever i put something that is true to what i really think and not what i think will get me good marks i either get told to rewrite it or just get shit marks because i "went off topic"... so heres what i really think I did not enjoy this assignment. I fail to see the point of writing an evaluation for art. That should be an oxymoron. so what has any of this got to do with art? What is the point of this, why do you even bother to call this art? I do not know the purpose of this but I can see its effect. This is not art, this is a crossword, fill in the blanks, must be this many letters across… such a small box this requires, I lost my care for it long ago. You can teach machines to do this kind of thing and that is what we are becoming. I see the cranks and cogs grind away at the last of humanity. I would call it murder but you do not even allow its birth. I want to see something new on the table and all I see is you, such an old and withered face should have died long ago. Who wants this repetitive drivel? Not me. this machine has not won its battle yet, I shall not go out with a whimper. no offense to anyone with an old and withered face, live long and prosper!
i agree entirely. im lucky in that i have the best art class and art teacher ever but thats shitty for you.
My art teach was sooo cool only teach ivelike atmy school hes so down and understanding yet keeps in controll and is a good teacher
without a good art teacher its so hard to learn.. im lucky i have an awesome one.. just be yourself in your essay and if you get a bacd mark then carma will get your teacher lol
Yeah art teachers should really be totally open-minded and out of the box. If you're in the box you're going to be a sucky art teacher like the one I had in high school. If what you're doing isn't done by his standards or abstract at all thats bad... doesn't make any sense to me. But now that I'm in college art classes are sweet so far. I guess ask other students what teachers they would recommend if you're in college, fuck the in-the-box ones.
I totally get what you're saying, I feel as thought when I go to "art class" in this british education system, I'm actually in graphic design, because that's all I do: design graphics to someone else's plan. And when we do so-called "expressive" there's never any expression, only copying fucking bowls of fruit, and plastic fruit at that (they can't even afford wax fruit - they're too busy puttin the money in their own velvet pockets, damn them!) Philistines! damn them all! if I wasn't too much of a pacifist, I'd beat them with sticks! :beatdeadh they don't deserve to call themselves artists.
Yeah I think that it's ridiculous that you get graded on your artwork..What the hell? Art is something that is seen by many people and because different people have different taste, one can never receive a fair mark on an artwork.
As far as I'm concerned the only way you can evaluate art is in two categories: You like it, or you don't.
