My cousin recently started a colon cleansing program. I'm not sure which one, because apparently there are many. She keeps telling me that I should try it. She tells me all the "good" things about it, and I'm wondering if I should try it or not.

I've always heard bad things about colon cleansing. How you can die from doing the enemas and therapies where they stick a tube up your @$$. That's not what this one is about. This one you mix a fiber drink together and drink it every morning. I think there's a tea you drink before bed too.

Anyways. Has anyone here ever tried colon cleansing? Cna you give me any advice about it. Thank yous

Is is natural or no? sticking a tube up your ass is not natural and unless it is a life or death situation I do not see why anyone would consider that. but again I may just be ignorant to colon cleansing. I have studied natural medicine in my spare time and I feel it is generally safe if it is natural and guides the body back to balance, as opposed to forcing your will... Like trying to immediately fix a problem (surgery, etc.), when preventative medicine is all you need in the first place. Of course if you wait to take care of yourself, you might just have to stick something up your ass to save yourself ;)

That may not of been helpful to you. But I hope you find your anwsers :)

I think this is a temporary solution. If you are starting a new healthy lifestyle and you want to rid your body of toxins and all the junk that has built up in your system then sure I think its an excellent idea. But if your eating healthy your likely getting plenty of fibre which will clean you out also. Stuff moves through me so quick im fairly cconfident I have no need for a colon cleanse.

All disease begins in the colon. That's just the truth about the way things are and so many books have been written about this and over-looked in the whole health scene.

People are chronically constipated in this country(see the song: Constipation Nation by The Healing Waters Band), and even if you think you are regular, your not. A child moves over 3 bowels a day and more, and that is what is truly regular. If you eat 3 meals a day, 3 bowels should be moving out.

It is not uncommon for adults to move a bowel 2 times a week. All you have to do is look about 9 in 10 Americans walking down the street and this is as obvious as ever(LOL).

Seriously, I see this in people all the time, pretty much everyday. As a passionate natural health freak, you start to pick up on how profound health truly is and how deeply it affects people. Constipation creates depression and frustration and it pretty much creates stagnation in every body system, and ultimatley an overgrowth of bacteria, parasites, a weakened immune system, and eventually serious illness...and obviously depression and disease are more prevelant than ever in our country. That's the whoooole name of the health game, right there, if you can take care of that in a healthy way, your pretty much good to go.

4.4 million people in the USA 1983 went to the doctor for constipation. I imagine that number has grown since then.

Colonics, enemas and colon cleansing aren't only healthy but their probably necesary for everyone who grew up on junk food if they ever want to achieve optimal health and prevent disease. If you wanna lose weight in a safe way quickly, like 10 pounds in an hour, visit a colon hydrotherapist and learn to eat raw organic food.

You can over-do herbal cleansing but more people underdo it and I imagine more death and disease has been created by over doing fast food and un-organic food than herbal cleansing. I bet the ratio on which has caused more health problems is MASSIVE! It really doesn't take a genius to realize that herbal cleansing is safer than most American food and conventional medicine.

Another interesting thing, meat has no fiber and is a huge culprit in this whole equation. Colon cancer and meat have been linked several times and they pretty much go hand in hand. Going vegetarian can prevent a whole hand full of diseases and create a lot more quality fiber in your diet if done right. You can't have quality fiber in any animal food, not eggs, no meat, none of it has fiber. That's just the way it is! Read food labels more!

PS - I'm not a doctor and I don't cure disease or diagnose anybody. ( not that doctors always cure disease either but I'm just saying )

BTW I've had Renew Life's cleanse and I never felt a great effect. They have a lot of formulas and I only had one but my results weren't profoundly life altering.

Quality in cleanses can vary drastically, and there is a lot of stuff on the market that is not high quality. One of my personal favorite blends is one I distribute myself and I use frequently in smoothies, called fiberzon - http://174486.amazonherb.net/Group06_Fiberzon.aspx

They also have caps and sample packets of the caps, which is a different formula of herbs so I use it occasionally - http://174486.amazonherb.net/Group06_FiberzonPlus.aspx

Fiber is really good for you and most Americans only get 7-12 grams a day when you're supposed to be getting 20-25 grams. But if you're increasing your fiber intake you need to do it gradually otherwise it could be irritating or cause blockage. Nothing wrong with the fiber. But the tea at night might be a laxative and you should take laxatives sparingly - that can be a life or death situation. You should find out more about the program. I just know I had to take laxatives once and it was an all natural tea I drank before bedtime, even though its all natural its not natural for your body to crap your brains out everyday haha. But yeah don't stick any tubes in your ass or anything.

i would get more information and then talk to your doctor, but fiber is usually good. If its just a mixed fiber drink, those are already available (ie metamucil, citrucel) and sometimes these are said to be "colon cleansing" simply because they help with digestion and reducing constipation (which can build up dangerous bacteria in your intestines)
