Okay Im at this gunshow today, had a table with a friend and we had a few firearms and knives and coe misc items that were hunting related. Anyway here is what I saw all too many times.

    (1) People picking up firearms and snapping the triggers without taking a moment to be sure the chamber was empty.

    (2) People selling hand guns to people who said they could not pass a background check so they were willing to pay extra.

    (3) A man selling a street sweeper. The weapon is banned and is not allowed to be resold and he did this with no paperwork too and to a teen.

Now I am very verbal pro gun person but damn what idiots do we have this day and age. Has the mighty $$$ become so important that we will side step every ounce of brains for it??

By the way a street sweeper is a drum fed semi auto 12 guage shot gun with a folding stock. Very very powerful.

Grant you the above issues were slim but we cant have issues like that. I mean selling hand guns without paperwork is one thing, but selling to people who tell you they cant buy them is another.

I did have a great time over all, bought a Kimber 6.5x55 custom rifle and another Ruger 10/22 rifle. DP you should have been there, some real neat stuff was there to be seen.

I wish it weren't so true, but it is.
I don't like or own guns, but I'm also not one of these anti-gun nuts. I personally think they're for cowards and hunters not talented enough to use a bow - but a lot of people get a kick out of them, and who am I to knock a hobby? I collect Transformers.

These gun shows, though, do tend to attract some real all stars. You can bypass a lot of the laws usually restricting gun sales if you find the right show/seller, so a lot of people who can't beat a background check use these too. Not everyone at these shows is like this, but I've met my fair share of yokels who attend these regularly so they can continue to build an armory of epic proportions "JUST IN CASE THEM THERE 'TERRIST A-RABS INVADE!!!"

That's true but the worship of the gun isn't one that I condone. A gun will never make you safe. Most gun fanatics are those that are looking for male validation outside of viagra...or maybe they use it too. Anyone done a study?

agreed. I think people are sometimes to caught up in making themselves feel safe by using offensive measures, like guns. But what if you took defensive measures? I mean, a bullet proof vest isn't realistic...but what if people looked into non violent defensive measures if they really did not feel safe? Just food for thought..

The best defense I think is to be a contributing member to the community speaking on a anthropological level. You don't attack friends or family except over money or a woman. And I am not sure anything will change that. But isn't it odd that over centuries we are still going to war sending our youth to fight battles that don't directly win any of us a woman or money.

Not only brains, but integrity, friends, family, love and most everything that matters. I am sorry to say this, but I feel it's true.

The sad part is; other than buying basic needs, money won't make you any happier than you already are.

True. And power is only powerful when we as a community allow it to be. Just like smokers are now seen as scum I'd like to see a day when bullies in schools were seen in the same light. The popular clicks are attractive and their folks have money, but what exactly do these chosen children have that makes them above the law or criticism? They should be held responsible as well.
