Yeps. Examples of things along those lines: http://jewsinthewoods.org/aleph/about/ http://www.elatchayyim.org/ At Elat Chayyim they do things like a group mikveh, men and women separate, where you stand in a circle and sing a niggun, someone gives a teaching, and each person takes a turn to dunk and either let go of something for the past week or talk about osmething they want to bring with them into Shabbos. I've done chants you might likely hear at a rainbow gathering there, along with more traditionally Jewish chants. They're host to classes on Jewish shamanism, Integral Judaism, Neo-Hasidism, where Buddhism and Judaism meet, earth-centered Judaism. They've got week-long silent retreats, (this year two weeks in a row are coming up) retreats on social activism. There's someone's recollection of a week available here: http://velveteenrabbi.blogs.com/blog/2004/06/a_week_at_elat_.html And more postings from her about EC here: http://velveteenrabbi.blogs.com/blog/elat_chayyim/index.html Dauer
My notion of the hippie Shabbos begins with a ritual bath of herbs. A linen garment is worn during the celebration. I take out my phone book and say a dedication to those listed in alphabetical order. Each person gets a personalized blessing. Songs of love and devotion are shared. The meal is centered around positive channels. No negativity is brought into the meal. Lighting is subdued. Dancing takes place. We drink wine. We read tarot. We are thankful of being in community and we pray for peace.
