Endtime politics. It's a really scary situation when ANYONE believes the end of the world is not only imminent but desireable and something they should work towards. And in this case, some of them are world leaders.

I don't think they actually believe it. Corporate and multinationalists just hope to benefit by spreading the fear. And they have. Soon some lightbulb manufacturers will find a secure market for a bulb that's been on the market for quite a while and not managed to find a market share. But if you have friends in high places they will eventually pay off because they can scare folks into legislating what bulbs you can buy.

I know lightbulbs don't compare to genocide. But then genocide is marketed only when needed in the states. Africa isn't going to be high on our list until Bush and friends buy interests over there. Right now it looks more like south America will be higher on our list. The human freedom restrictions in China are definitely not on the radar right now.

Why is the problem in Darfur any more important or significant than that of the plight of the homeless veteran lying bleeding in the gutter after being beaten by punks, right here in America?

    I couldn't agree more.

I will be the first to admit that I honestly don't care about Darfur that much. Yes, it's terrible... but there are so many problems here... AT HOME.

Fix your country first, and then try to fix others.

I would much rather see all of this American money going towards feeding the American homeless and not into the budgets of corrupt humanitarian organizations.

I don't think anyone said it was. Are you in some position I'm unaware of whereby you're only capable of giving a shit about one group or people?

Because if you really want a reason, there's a hell of a lot more people getting fucked over in Darfur than there are homeless veterans getting beaten up by punk in America.

Is it important to you that it's a homeless veteran?

Agreed. So many terriable things happen near and far. If one cannot fix the terriable things happening around them, how can they change the terriable things happening far away.

There is no competition in suffering because any suffering sucks the same; however there is a level of degree in pain as some things hurt less then other things.
