Rolling my eyes and going to have a cigarette when I was supposed to be watching the floor at work. I work at a facility for seniors. My twenty one year old shift supervisor, & her childs aunt (my other coworker)wanted to go smoke. That's why. We're supposed to have one person watching the dining room at all times. It's one of those asinine no exception rules..There were plenty of people milling around at that point in time. Kitchen staff was there.. They will be shorthanded tonight. I did not want to go in today anyhow. That place has major issues. I should probably add that I had quit smoking until I started working there.
Yeah. There's major nepotism there. My administrators boyfriend and best friend work there too. I work with three sisters on my shift alone. The rules are silly, & do not apply to everyone. I think I will take this opportunity to re-tool my resume.
Apparently. I just got off the phone with one of the sisters. Told her that if they wanted to punish me they shoulda made me work this whole weekend.
Yeah really! Getting time off is more of a reward anyway. Well enjoy your time off, if you can. Hopefully next week will be better!
Kinda, it's not set in stone but instead it's implied. That's bullshit that you'd have to take up smoking to step outside for 2-5 minutes. We only go out there when there isn't anything that needs our attention. We currently have one documented case of elder abuse there. The girl in question- her grandmother rents a room in our facility. (-we think that's why they are letting the incident go) She dragged a resident in from the parking lot when she tried to walk out of the building. The woman had scratches on her feet. No disciplinary action has been taken in that situation and it has been two weeks. She also eats food from the kitchen all night does her laundry there and sleeps on shift. (night shift) But, they're worried about little ol' me.
Wargh...yeah, it's implied at DQ, too. Seeing as when one smoker goes out, it's like a train and everyone else follows. And that leaves me inside, still working, because hell if I'm going to be written up because I followed suit and went outside, too. I've worked there almost a year now (well 10 months or so) and have to this day only gotten about 6 breaks total. Most everyone there has either continued smoking or started just so they can have a rest and a stress-reliever. And people wonder why I smoke pot at home.
It was like that for me. Everyone smoked at my work. plus it was night shift (usually from 10 at night, ending anywhere from 3 to 10 the next morning) and sometimes it was stressful. so one person would always go for a cig and everyone would follow, and I'd be left making the doughnuts myself...mixing the dough, doing the bench and frying..
