Does it affect you when someone corrects you, or tells you something good about yourself? To what degree? Does it matter who is saying it?
Oh my goodness yes, does it ever. Especially criticism. I don't take it well at all. But I realize why this is, it stems from my childhood.
depends - in the business world you need to be able to take praise and criticism on the understanding that it it constructive But you get people who say stuff just forthe sake of saying stuff. Thats annoying.
Depends on the situation, the person delivering said criticism and their agenda... My current chapter of life has me carefully rationing emotional energy lest I hand over an excess amount of influence over my sense of well being. Often criticism is merely intended as a tool to get under one's skin. In this case the best response is none at all... especially internal responses.
same here. I am horrible in the sense that I can't spend time with people who don't praise me because I feel like crap about myself afterwards. Also, I assume everyone else is like me so I compliment people like crazy, sometimes to my detriment.
