Now, if you have been abused, and think you are able too, post on here. I really think that it affects way more people than we think, and maybe some people could find solice in that fact. So please do, if you can. I think it will open alot of eyes when people see how many people are really the victims of sexual abuse, and other kinds. Maybe we could find a way to reduce the numbers of abused children (and adults) if we put our heads together.

i also want to say, i posted in the women's issues forum because it seemed the most appropriate, but i am well aware that many males suffer from abuse also. So feel free if you are a male victim of abuse to post as well.

i don't think that being abused is something that people want to broadcast. i understand what your trying to do, but the forums is a pretty public place, maybe if you want to persue this you should open a priate forum that people can go to with permission

not to talk about it, i just think that is a very vulnerable issue where people that don't understand can cause lots of damage, i think that it should be discussed in a private forum so that not just anyone can come and be part of it.

i don't want people to broadcast it. But it shouldn't be something people are ashamed of, unless they're the abuser. the idea for this thread didn't just pop into my head, i was looking around at all of the forums and kept seeing stuff saying "i was molested" or "i was abused" and started to notice a trend. i thought that maybe if the "broadcasts" were all in one place and not so scattered, it would make people feel less alone. that's all. they are already broadcasting it, i just wanted it to all be in one place. Maybe then people won't be as ashamed and will feel free to express their feelings about something that happened to them.

you may be right about that, i don't know. i was only trying to help. i didnt want people to neccesarily tell their "story", just an acknowledgement maybe, because i felt like people would be astounded at the number of people who have dealt with abuse. but you're probably right. sorry to anyone who i should be sorry to.

i don't know how to make a private forum, and then, if i did, how would we censor who could come in? make them offer some form of proof that they were abused?

i'm not sure but talk to skip. a private forum requires a password to enter, so you only give it to the people you want in there and you can kick people out

ok everyone, pm me if you feel like the forum is too public... but that sorta defeats the purpose. maybe people can PM me, and I'll post their posts anonymously if they want, or just count up the total # of people who have PMed me. Hey, that's a pretty good idea. what do you think fishie?

I'm not shy or ashamed about the fact that I was abused. In fact, I have posted about it in several different forums...usually to give advice. I personally think that it might be a good idea...I know of a few women on the boards that are in abusive relationships and have asked for advice. I will be glad to share my story with anyone who needs it.

I agree with retrofishie. Also, these days it's men that usually have a bigger issue getting the help they need. It is not so well recognised and so they usually find themselves having fewer places to turn.
I think it's great that you're trying to help people, but maybe also make it a little more accessible for the guys too. :)

I agree. Like those men in Iraq, and others I've heard of.

Anyway I haven't, and am pretty sure that I won't ever be(en) molested.
