Anyone know of a good way to remove tiny cactus needles? I took a barefoot walk around my dad's property, and there was cactus everwhere. The walk was good, and I got some of the needles out, but there are a few stubborn ones that I can't seem to pinpoint. Any ideas?
soaking it in warm water? i've had this happen to my hand when i was a kid. :cuss: tweezers or someone with long fingernails.. maybe they can just work themselves out?
Depends on the type of cactus. There are some types that have a thin sheath covering each needle that gets left behind in the skin, causing irritation that lasts for many hours even days. Wash the skin and soak in water for a while, then use a bright light to inspect for actual embedded needles. If you see one for sure, try to squeeze it out while the skin is still moist. You can try to gently spread the skin apart around the hole through which the needle entered using a fine needle tip tweezer and use the tweezer to grab the end and pull it out while squeezing the skin around and under the needle to encourage it to come out. Sometimes the cactus needle will suddenly squirt out during this process. Wear safety glasses because the needle may just fly out and poke you in the eye instead.
