I've wanted to try acid for a long time, and now I might actually have a way to get some (it's hard to find here). My problem is, I'm a diabetic and I'm worried about my bloodsugar dropping too low without my being able to tell. I would be around a good friend while doing it, but it's not like she'd be able to tell low bloodsugar apart from just acting weird on the acid. Has anyone here with Diabetes tripped, or have suggestions on how I could do this? ANY help would be appreciated.

i dont know much about diabetes. most people avoid eating when tripping and this might be where you run into problems, am i right?

is it possible to have fruit juice around - would that work?

how do you normally monitor your blood sugar - are you worried that you wont be able to monitor your blood sugar or that you will forget? or do you know your blood sugar is low because of how you feel - if that is the case then you may have a problem.

i dont think you will have a problem but it is definitely a good idea to be thinking ahead like you are doing.

I always keeps snacks and juice on hand (I carry those small juice boxes with me almost everywhere I go), but like you said, my problem is that I usually know my bloodsugar is dropping by how I feel. I get shakey, loopy, or my limbs feel a little like jelly....

If I ask my friend to remind me to check it, do you think that will work? I've had diabetes my whole life so I don't think it will be a problem, but I don't want to freak out over the needle or something. I also realize I sound really worried, but I'm psyched about trying it. I just want to be safe because of the length of a trip.

    Thanks for your input!

"Physical reactions to LSD are highly variable and may include the following: uterine contractions, hypothermia, fever, elevated levels of blood sugar, goose bumps, increase of heart rate, jaw clenching, perspiration, pupil-dilation, saliva production, mucus production, sleeplessness, paresthesia, euphoria, hyperreflexia, tremors and synesthesia. LSD users report numbness, weakness, trembling, and nausea"

Acid is a strong drug, I say if you have concerns don't do it. Even if you trip and don't have any health problems the fact that your worried about it porbably wouldn't make for a good trip. Just my opinion, for what its worth.

if anyone has any definitive answers, i'd like to hear as well. i've got a friend with diabetes that i am trying to convince to try acid eventually.

in any case, i'd mostly caution to start with a low-dose to get to know the effects. the symptoms of low or high blood sugar seem like they could easily be masked by the effects from acid.
best way to do it until you know whats going on: set an alarm to go off hourly and check your blood sugar by it. if you can control your diabetes with any level of success and you're not too fucked on acid to use your checker, you should be ok. maybe even better would be to have at least one person designated as a trip sitter (preferably someone you know and trust and who at least knows a little about checking blood sugar and whatnot) to help you out.

I know very little about diabetes but I do know that there are insulin pumps that automatically give you insulin when you need it. My friend has one. Im sure that would be your best bet. Alternatively, I would just do that thing with your blood every now and then to make sure your alright.

    how so?
because you disagree that it is risky based on 'im pretty sure L has no effect on bloodsugar that whatsoever'
in full out terrible grammar and discredited a few posts later with a quote from wikipedia saying that it can elevate your bloodsugar

she has a disease that needs careful monitoring and control
LSD fucks with your perception a whole lot, therefore taking away her ability to monitor and control
as well as that it could fuck with her bloodsugar in the first place

yea, but there is still no chance I would not do LSD because of a potential bloodsugar risk. There are many many ways of diminishing such a risk, like having a good sitter or getting an insulin pump.

My cousin is a diabetic. He used to take alot of L....ALOT, I've never heard him complain about it being a problem. But if you are worried about it through the whole trip its gonna be a theme thats goin to repeatedily come up.

I too have a disease called Melkersson-Rosenthal symdrome, and even though L doesnt make the symptomes any worse on its own, because its such a powerful psychological drug, when I look in the mirror the symptoms always look like they are flaring up out of control to the point of working me into a panic... but Ive come to the conclusion that it is all just a mental thing, the symptoms are fine, its just something that bothers me constantly in my day to day life so it pops up like so during my trip. I suspect the same type thing would happen in your case. As long as your cautious, you should be cool; i wouldnt let it stop you from experiencing acid.

I've had an insulin pump for nine years now, so that definitely helps. But what everyone has been saying is giving me reassurance. I have a great friend who could be a sitter and knows all about checking my blood.

I'm going to be 18 in two weeks, and I've had diabetes since I was 3. I've never let it get in the way of anything I wanted to do before, and I don't want it to keep me from trying acid. Thanks for all your responses! I basically just wanted to know there were other diabetics out there who have safe trips.
