No bad trip?

I heard anti-anxiety pills and lsd are a good combo. I guess the ant-anxiety minimizes the possiblity of a bad trip. Is it true?

No. Anti-Anxiety pills will pretty much kill the trip or at least make it much less intense. And a bad trip is all in your head, you don't need pills to avoid one.

 

I heard some stuff on wikipedia, and some other sources i dont really recall. That was my concern, i kinda expected it might kill the trip.

Yea, well Erowid isn't good for everything drug related. Most Anti-Anxiety pills are SSRIs. SSRI's (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors) are proven to diminish effects of LSD because of how they act on serotonin (specificlaly 5-HT2 and 5-HT4) receptors in your CNS. I don't know exactly what it is you read on the matter, but anti-anxiety pills do sort of prevent bad trips because they make your trips so much less intense, however, I would definetly not say they are a good combo because of how they prevent bad trips. It sort of defeats the purpose.And no, I havn't tried the combo because, as I said, they counteract each other. I suppose if your really freaking out than eating some xanax could help you out, but I wouldn't really recommend it.

 

WAitt, sorry, my bad; I got SSRIs mixed up with benzodiazepines. SSRI's do diminish trips but anti-anxiety drugs do it in a different way. They act on GABA receptros but I don't remember specifically how they pretty much kill the trip. I would just google it.

 

Antipsychotics kill trips, not benzos.

 

benzos dont completely kill them but Im positive that they do bring them down a significant amount.

 

If your having a bummer, i can see why benzos would help chill you out...i dont think they would kill the trip enough to just turn it "good" so to speak

 

I heard they relieve the panic and distress of dysphoric reactions to pyschedelics. But i dunno, maybe ill try it see what happens. Hopefully it wont kill the trip.

 

If you have a hard time getting acid I wouldn't try it unless you frequently have bad trips. Wasting acid that you don't get very often would be a shame. Otherwise, go for it!

but the more i think about it and read up about it the more confident i am with it, like im not scared of it anymore and i think i oculd handle it and have a good time, i just dont kno anyone that would do it with me..
