Whoever said an ant, dont ants naturally live in huge colonies where they are very communicative and live as social beings? I hope you had more than the one! As for me, nah no strange pets really, except the hedgehogs from the garden, but they were always let go after theyd been fed
When I was Younger I Used to keep Pet Garden Spiders... I was a Lil' Freaky...Er Hmm... To Feed them...I Used to Go Fly Hunting in the Garden... I Would Stalk a Fly...And Catch it Between my Thumb and Finger... Talk About Quick Reflexes...And Never Once Squised a Fly... Then I'd Release the Fly in the Plastic Small Animal Cage...Watch it as it Becomes Entangled in the Web...And Then the Expert Spider Attacking the Fly... To Give my Spider a Drink (I Only Ever kept One at a Time) I Would Use my Hand as a Cup...Carrying Water...And The Spider Would Drink Water From my Hands... I Could Feel Their Fangs Scaping Against my Skin as They Drank... I Loved them...They grew Quite Big and Fat... And The Way They Would Run Over my Hands and Arms...Never Once was I Bitten... Aaahhh...
Is she a fox? She is adorable. The strangest I have owned is a ball pyton, 2 bearded dragons, and a North American Snapping Turtle.
You are right we do not own them they own us just ask our Africa Ring neck parkeet he talks and he will tell you I'm the boss or I baby bbb
I have a skunk and have had a llama (although he never lived with me). I have and have had ferrets for the past 13 years. My Belgian Sheepdogs are pretty "strange" themselves Soaringeagle - How long did you have Luna? How was she as a pet? FWIW My pets have a good life but I do own them and don't see anything wrong with that
Didn't really own any strange or exotic animals, but my family at one time could have qualified for having some kind of "petting zoo." We've had cats, dogs, horses, sheep, chickens, ducks, geese, parakeets, cockatiels, parrets, mice, ferrets, fish, snakes, and turtles. The closest we came to an exotic pet was when one of my sisters considered getting a chinchilla. (It never happened though.) When I was a kid, one of my neighbors actually had a baby squirrel, but it was a little wild already, so he let it go.
I've had firebelly newts and an aquatic frog named Sugar, just lost my beautiful hedgehog (I'll miss you, baby!), currently have a crocodile gecko, and am getting 2 rats in 2 weeks
I have quite a few snakes and lizards (lost count)... I think the strangest was a stick insect. It must have attatched itself to me in the shop, then as I was getting out of the car I felt something on my leg, and there he was! I was quite sad when he died.
I once had a snail farm when I was really little. I put a couple of snail in an aquarium with lots of dirt and I fed them and they had a gazillion baby snails. The babies were so cute! They were all smaller than the nail on my pinky finger when they first hatched. After a while I let them all go. I used to have three snakes, two of them were Eastern Ribbon Snakes (related to the Garter Snake) and one was an Indonesian Garter Snake. He was a sweetheart, the other two were a little wild. Right now me and Alex have an iguana named Caesar (he's her baby), and two rats, Spartacus (Alex's rat) and Riff Raff (my rat). I also have two male beta fish, named Claude and Antonio. Alex thinks fish are strange, so I guess they count.
Either the fox or the Degus...although I've owned some strange things along the way...even a miniature mule!
I have 2 iguanas, one is 10yrs old and the other is 15 y/o,both females; 2 leopard geckos, a sulcata tortoise, a belgian shepherd teruven and my wonderful husband! dancing in my mind, gloria in hemlock hollow (only the iguanas know for sure)
I can't remember a time I haven't had some sort of animal in my life.....dogs, cats, horses, sheep, rattlesnakes, pythons, iguanas, Nile monitor, Tokay gheko, rabbits, rats, hampter, spiny mice...(catches breath)...birds, scorpion, horned lizard, fire-bellied newt, frogs, fish and a partridge in a pear tree Animals enhance my life and I can't imagine not having them around me.
A pet chicken long ago that would come when called, loved to be petted and would follow my mother around when she would hang clothes to dry, the strangest was a bat when I was in college, han an apartment with a screened in patio, would let mosquitos into the patio area and would let the bat into the patio to feed, my live in gf at the time hated it, and the inevitable left over mosquitos that preyed on us at night lol. Currently have 2 aquariums filled with varietys of fish, two grass snakes, recently returned 2 turtles to the wilds, 4 dogs and about 200 birds in an avairy.
i kept an aligator lizard for awhile. theyre the only lizard that lives around here and are quite rare (i didnt know that at the time lol). ive also had plenty of garter snakes, various native insects and spiders, chickens, goats, ducks, rats... the list goes on.
