Next week me and a friend are going to amsterdam with his mum for a couple of days (she's writing a piece on the Anne Frank museum or something), we both are heavy smokers and wondered whether buying cannabis would be difficult considering we're both sixteen - I know the law states you have to be 18?

^yo, I was just in Amsterdam a month ago, and Im 17. This is how it works being underage: smaller/less popular places will probably let you in more highclass popular ones wont. but dont be surprised if youre rejected at a couple places, you certainly will be, beacuse if they are cuaght with minors in their coffeeshops more than twice, the police can legally shut the coffeeshop down, so they dont like risking it. if you DO go to a cofeeshop and manage to get in, itd be smart to just buy it and leave. theres lots of headshops too tho, and with those, you rarely need to show your ID, meaning that yes shrooms are easier to get than weed being underage somehow. for me hwoever, i found a huge chunk of weed the size of half my fist laying on the ground when i arrived at my hotel. haha if youre lucky maybe youll find some too. at the very least, yull meet other cool tourists wholl smoke you up. if you cant get into any shops, just ask another tourist to get you a bit. dont be afriad to ask: theyre used to tourists, theyre friendly, and everyone htere, even locals (most) speak great english. have fun! but dont just sit in cofeeshops! theres really lotsa other cool stuff to do too, i swear! its such a bueatiful city! enjoy!
