Alright so my dad and I were arguing. He's a cool guy but can be arrogant at times. Basicly we were discussing weed and how it affect the individual (I'm 19 currently in a university) He is a radiologist (doctor looks at Xrays). He isn't the type to state things unless he has hard proof be he said he's dead set marijuana will lower and destroy anyones ambitions even if they only smoke on weekends. I believe this is true for anything that is fun and no constructive (video games, TV, drugs). I told him about my personal observations, how there are pot heads I see who do great in school, but I never seen an alcoholic last in school, but they are more rare. He said he doesn't believe in a single person out there in fast-paced business (such as wall street, being the CEO / VP / president of a large company that smokes on occasion. So is he right? I find it hard to believe there's NO well-paid business men/women who smoke. Anyone know where I can find some information on powerful people putting money into marijuana legalization? Possibly even open about their smoking?
http://www.nndb.com/lists/352/000083103/ This is list of mostly famous people who smoke or have smoked marijuana, and only two are labeled with business. but, of coarse business people dont usually become famous, so i dont know
your dad is wrong; there are plenty of "business" tokers.... and marijuana doesn't destroy ambition! i'm sick of these dumbass pothead stereotypes, aren't you?
i know a guy who is VP of a HUGE and I mean huge insurance company that writes bonds for jobs on the international level. he still smokes occasionally and has for over 30 years. I know in Denver there are many business tokers
Business tokers? Everyone smokes and keeps it hush hush is all. It can make you tired and lethargic but it can also make you relaaaax if you are a successful person after a long day at work.
haha all musicians and actors I like the way your dad thinks I run my own buisness, but it's nothing on any large scale
Thanks for the responses, but I definitly failed to clarify my question. The profession doesn't just have to focus on "business" just anyone who is in "high society". Someone who has / had / does work hard to have gotten where he / she is. Basicly I wanted to prove that there ARE people who work hard towards their goals and they smoke pot. When I hear people say "Pot fucks up your brain." Or "Pot makes you lazy" It just aggrivates me and I wish I could name a bunch of people who are successful yet smoke pot.
Very Wrong. Because as a matter of fact when I worked in the Restraunt industry (Don't tell me thats not fast paced) for the last few years (And I worked in San Jose, Minneapolis, and Hollywood) Almost all of my managers smoked pot. Everything else that he said about it is right though... ~Dub
sorry but unless your managing a wolfgang puc resturant, a resturant manager is very far from "high society"
what defines high society floridaguy? plenty of people work hard to get where they are. Such as an electrician, many work as an apprentice for years and then start their own company. But they are blue collared workers, not considered part of high society. But yet take some one like Carmello Anthony, the kids a very talented ball player but if he wasn't a physical freak he wouldn't be much of anything in society. He certainly wouldn't have pruchased the 12.5 million dollar estate he just bought last week in littleton. (althought he gets high).
There are many many business tokers, unfortunately we never hear about them since they do not want to risk losing their job.My father for instance is a toker, and he is vice president director for a huge insurance company as a lawyer - however, nobody knows he smokes other than me and my mother. I smoke both occasionally and sometimes daily, and I am a straight A student currently studying at a hotel managment university. Someday I will hopefully be a manager for a hotel, and I will still keep on smoking. There are lots of people of the upper society who smokes... but it is too risky being open about it because of the illegal point of view. I have just finished three weeks of daily smoking, and I must admit that eventually towards the end, I did get a bit slow and it effected my short term memory. However, after 3 - 4 days off and I am fit for fight for all my exams and it is as if I have not smoked. By the way, from the link that was listed - it is written that Bill Clinton smokes, and guess what.. he is definitely not the first President, but maybe the first one who admits it.
My friends dad isn't high society by far (he's way too redneck for that), but he does own his own company, has his own employees that work for him, pays all the necessary bills to ensure them all and keep his business running in top shape. He has smoked pot all my life. He owns his own property, has a happy marriage and three great kids who have all been raised the right way. 0% government prohibition, 100% education. I could go on and on with stories like this, but alas I would get the worst writers cramp around. lol There are just as many responsible smokers as there are irresponsible ones. The difference? The only time you hear of them (smokers) is when something bad happens. No-one wants to make it public that they constantly break the federal laws. Well, no-one that has a business and employees to protect that is. Ask your dad how many drinkers he knows that drink daily, still maintain and live good happy lives. I bet he knows very few.
Bill Clinton, 42nd pres. of the US. Id say thats pretty fast paced, although I doubt he smoked while in office.
