but ive barely been watching any mindless tv lately. not a bad thing, but when my friends were asking about the new athf episodes i realized that i havent seen any (more due to not being home) but ive been relaxing lately, watching tv (a bit under the weather, its nice to veg out) and ive been watching history channel, discovery channel and national geographic channel. (the taboo series on national geographic is friggin awesome, in my opinion) and have been watching history for hours today. vikings, barbarians, goths... its really interesting.

but i feel like a dork.

not sure what possessed me to post. dont mind me. (but feel free to respond if desired :) )

Television is such a waste of time. There isn't anything good on T.V. The only time I can watch T.V. is when I'm high, because everything seems better. I'd say that books are your best way to go. People are so uneducated today. I wonder why. Maybe its because they've spent their entire life watching reality series and waste of time cartoons. You're not learning anything from this. I get tired of people complaining to me about not knowng anything, though. If you want to learn something, don't watch so much T.V..

The problem with channels like the History channel is that you get into the middle of a subject of which you have no further knowledge. It's pretty much pointless to get 4 or 5 useless facts on a subject and not know the rest.

but if you read as much as I do isn’t watching a show like the history channel simply gathering more information? Just because i like to relax and watch TV (no brain power involved, when i read a book i get really really into it as opposed to tv where its almost background noise) doesn’t mean i don’t read.

I hate that people assume that. But yes. I watch TV. And yes- i read way more than the average person my age. True, most of our generation would rather curl up in front of some edgy cartoon for hours on end than even imagine picking up a book. Don’t assume im one of them. Hell, ive read more books than most people twice my age have. But i feel i am educated (though my early morning grammar probably isnt portraying that too well) and i do read plenty. I was one of those kids whose parents had to tell her to put the books down sometimes.

Sorry for lashing out, im just tired of having people assume that i dont read ever or for assuming i'm 'uneducated' simply because i do watch tv. Lets face it- when im tired and my head and body are hurting do i A) pick up a book and bring the headache to a migraine/fall asleep and regret not finishing/get really into the book and not take my nap or B) watch tv where i could care less because it IS MINDLESS ENTERTAINMENT

so while im a huge fan of my heavy appetite for literature i see nothing wrong with watching television. It has no effect on the status of my education nor my ability or drive to read.

    Thank you.

i agree, theres a couple tv shows i will watch on a regular basis, the simpsons and joan of arcadia. and NFL football. thats about it. I think watching movies shouldn't be considered watching TV. movies rock!

and also, I love reading books, and yes there are even some mindless books out there to read that are fairly simple in grammar as well as plot.
but they are good and violent and mindlessly fun as some TV plots I'd imagine.

reading dime store romance novels isnt going to make you smarter, it might make you horny however.
