It would be great for my career if I learned another language, but I can survive on english alone.

I think your best bet is to keep complaining and refuse to learn basic spanish. Also, refuse to buy stock in Gilead, just complain when other people make money in it.

 

I know basic Spanish, and I haven't been complaining. But I will stand up and say that I am willing to do work that illegal immigrants are getting. Is that what has your back up? Employer's in California want more than basic Spanish, they want fluency. They don't ask their illegals to be fluent but they want their anglos to be fluent in Spanish.

 

Funny, I lived in California for years. None of the english only people I knew had a problem finding work. I never found anything great but i was never unemployed either.

I doubt that. I was there in the late 1990s, SF (Berkeley and Oakland) and LA. But I go back all the time to visit friends.

When you want to talk as an expert of a location, you should acknowledge that you live there. It's easy to pretend to be anything on the net.

I never ask for your street address, and I don't plan on stalking you, but if you profess to be an expert on an area, you should share where you are located in general. It also makes your presence here more grounded. Doesn't mean you can't speak on other areas, but it gives your audience something to base your relevance on.

Excuse me for having a job. And my friends are up to all kind of things, in Cali none of them are bankers, not a one. No suits. I'll tell you what though they're all ambitious and some of them have gone far. None of them sits around blaming the government or the immigrants for their problems.
