Last weekend I was told that I shouldn't buy coca cola because of their unethical practices, I know nothing about it at all, is there anyone who can enlighten me?

Don't know the deal with Coca-Cola, but Pepsi aren't much better apparently. It wasn't all that long ago they ran a bottleing plant in Burma. And to this day they sponsor bullfights in Mexico.

i've not read the web site...but i do know coca cola have polluted/used many water supplys in places where water is in very short supply. they are a huuuge business and thereby is very hard and cold...i would urge you to drink lesser known drinks, they're often much tastier and better :) and water is much better for you and is cheap as chips!!!

No, you're right. I remember Johnny going on about the Coca Cola protests. Was pretty confusing though, wasn't there something to do with death in the bible aswell - Or were they seperate conversations?

I hope not pepsi either..but this just reminds me of the kfc thing..its the vast structure of a vast organisation haveing to rely on unethical bottling plants ..yeah they should keep track and i am should they do....but thats not realy the point i guess.

I won't have a bad word said against pepsi

I stopped drinking coke ... but i like DR pepper though ... dilema.. that does not have a bad rap i think. Should i boycot of the coca cola company (in all its forms) that would seem a better choice ... do other companys use like Kfc a generic bottler not one in uniquly for them in each region ??
Thats not true realy ..but i will still go along with it..i would watch the smaller companys myself...out of sight out of mind ???

OK, could I be crude and move the post away from the original topic? well I'm going to anyway[IMG]

What would people suggest as an alternative? Pepsi? or do they have a terrible human rights history as well? I know there a re a few small brands like Mecca calo and a few others that are marketed to people who have heard about the problems with coca cola but are there any widely available drinks I could get? I don't fancy traveling for a few hundred miles to get a mixer for my whiskey!!!

I have not drank any carbonated beverages this year. (Coke, Pepsi, Dr. Pepper etc.) My last carbonated beverage was on December 31,2003. :)

    i like coke.

lets have some support for them huh?
in africa they sell it in glass bottles, and a big truck comes round to collect them all up so they can be used again and again without plastic bottles ruining the envirionment. thats nice.

It's a gradual fading out of bad food and non-nutritious drinks I have started for myself. I plan on slowly eliminating meat from my diet too. That may take longer than Coke but I will do it. I am going to eat more veggies and fruit as well as grains. My big picture plan is to have a healthy diet with no meat, alcohol, or carbonated beverages. :)

You used to be able to take your empty glass bottles back to the shop, and get a bit of money back for it. Applied for all bottles, if I remember correctly - coke, pepsi, Newcastle Brown Ale. The bottles would be re-used.

It was a great idea because it gave people an incentive to take their bottles back. People are lazy bastards.
