Okay, how do crystals heal and microwaves cause disease? this is an urban myth i've heard over and over again in new age circles, and i just want a cogent explanation that doesn't rely on semi-mystical pseudoscience. i mean, on one hand you have a non-ionizing form of EM radiation (microwaves) and on the other hand you have ionizing forms of em radiation (crystals). guess which one damages DNA?
I personally don't believe in crystals and the like, but your post is only here to stir things up and that's it. You have no interest in discussion or debate. You've already answered your own question. So that being said, what is the point of your post other than to make fun of people you disagree with?
Well, I've never heard of the topic before, though I will debate this with you. How do you suppose crystals damage your dna? Do we have any recorded instances of crystals doing damage to anybody?
I have never heard of crystals emitting ionizing EM radiation, unless they contain radioactive material. Incidently, radiation from radioactive materials was once believed to be healing. Radithor (TM), a solution of radioactive thorium and radium was once marketed as a health tonic, and there are still spas in radon-rich caves where one can enjoy the health-giving effects of radon gas. Of course, we now know how harmful to the body and to nature ionizing EMR really is, but knowing this bit of history makes me extremely sceptical of New Age claims when they concern some newly-discovered form of energy that is claimed to be healing.
I should clarify. when light enters a crystal it's refracted, meaning all up and down the spectrum (including visible light, and presumably UV light). UV light is bad, it causes skin cancer. And Radium-Radiation is an entirely different thing than EM radiation. People usually just hear the word "radiation" and get scared, when it's just a scientific term (it's like being afraid of teddy bears because polar bears are dangerous)... I think it's just technophobia...
