I don't get why people are praising Gilmour so much. Waters was clearly the genius in Pink Floyd. I'll admit Dave is a very good guitarist though.
I like this song One of My Turns [spoken in background:] Oh my God, what a fabulous room! Are all these your guitars? This place is bigger than our apartment. Uh, could I have a drink of water? Ya want some? Huh? Oh wow! Look at this tub! Wanna take a bath? What're you watching? Hello? Are you feeling ok? Day after day, Our love turns gray, Like the skin on a dying man. And night after night, We pretend it's all right, But I have grown older, And you have grown colder, And nothing is very much fun, anymore. And I can feel, One of all my turns coming on. I feel, Cold as a razor blade, Tight as a tourniquet, Dry as a funeral drum. Run to the bedroom, In the suitcase on the left, You'll find my favorite axe. Don't look so frightened, This is just a passing phase, One of my bad days. Would you like to watch TV? Or get between the sheets? Or contemplate a silent freeway? Would you like something to eat? Would you like to learn to fly? Would ya? Would you like to see me try? Ooohh. No! Would you like to call the cops? Do you think it's time I stopped? Why are you running away?
Oh yeah, I thought you meant One of These Days from the dark room remark...but yes One of my Turns is a cool song off of The Wall. Ever get into Roger's solo material?
I started off on Wish you were here..than animals, than division bell, atom heart mother, meddle, relics than finally DSOTM.
surely the more people coming into contact with the genious of the floyd whether it onli be from a few of the most popular albums the better. hopefully they will begin discovering the other albums.
Actually, 'Animals' was the first Pink Floyd album I ever listended to, and it has influenced my taste in music like no other album. The I went to 'Dark Side Of The Moon', then 'Wish You Were Here' (best album ever), then 'The Final Cut' etc. The only one I don't like is 'Atom Heart Mother'. I depsise that album. What were they thinking?
Syd Barrett was the driving force behind Pink Floyd. He was a genius. I also think Waters writes some really great stuff. I don't think it should matter what Pink Floyd album people are listening to. It's the fact that they are listening that counts. I don't even a favorite album when it comes to Pink Floyd.
who cars? if they like them they like them. they don't need the bands history to enjoy the music. Get over yourself.
Don't take it too personally, there's so called "fake" fans for many mainstream bands. Its how the sheep stick together. I don't care much for a lot of PF, though they've played some good stuff for sure.
I'm currently foraging into Pink Floyd... I started with my dad's copy of Dark Side (which ruled) then just recently -after hearing lots of talk about it- I went and got a coy of Animals. Good stuff! What next, guys? Any recommendations? (and by the way, I don't claim to be a huge Pink Floyd fan... because I'm not yet)
Recommendation:The Wall Live I'm sorta a Fake floyd fan, I've only listened to thier music for a year.
I am a "young person" . I was just kind of peeved that people seem to ignore Rick, Nick and David but think Roger is the coolest guy around. Some people skip all of PF's other albums too and only listen to DS and The Wall. They have other good albums too.. Meddle, Animals, Piper... etc.
well I recomend you Meddle, Ummagumma and Wish you where here ....mmm actually all their albums... pink floyd fucking rules!!!!
Fact: The Wall Is Not Floyd's Best Album Ever! Floyd Are A Psych/prob Band.....nothing To Do With Wimpy Disco Music! Floyd Died When Syd Went Away! Period!
