Funny how the proponents for illegal labor love to discredit those that are willing to fill the jobs the immigrants are hired for, while telling us none of us want to do the work.

I am willing to do the work, I went to college to hone my skills in horticulture, now Pepik and his ilk are trying to make out that I am a loser. What happens when illegal immigrants start to take away the banking jobs? But that won't happen will it? Because they'll lobby for protection.

give us some solutions. who's going to pick "harvest" are crop's? what or who do we replace them with? how do we get them out and keep them out? i've only heard rants an no solutions.

 

We need 20-30 million immigrants to "harvest crops"? The average illegal immigrant takes three times what they put into the system economically. This is a fact. Not only does this amnesty make people who are here ILLEGALLY, legal, it allows these people to bring in their entire families as well, who then have access to free health care, welfare, social security, etc..

 

Who harvested the crops before illegal mexicans were expected to do the work. I for one had a work permit at 12 and worked in the harvest. What's wrong with the obese youth today...why not get them out working in the harvest?

i'm sure even you an i can agree we have crops and they do need harvested.
we all know they do more than just farming, they do almost every manual labor job there is.

If tens of millions of illegal immigrants are taking away all the jobs, why is unemployment at historical lows? It is an old myth that there are a fixed number of jobs, and illegal immigrants can come and take them. But its not true, the economy expands. If the illegal immigrants left, a lot of jobs would disappear with them. A lot of people would clean their own houses, mow their own lawns, etc. Some people would have to quit their jobs and become stay at home parents instead of using sitters

Illegal immigrants with elementary school education and poor english are not taking away skilled work in this country.

And legalising drugs would make people who take drugs ILLEGALLY, legal! Oh the horror. We need big government to keep people illegal. As for the rest, well you are being dishonest about what this bill does. It doesn't legalise everyone in the country, it doesn't give them all citizenship, and it doesn't do it for free either. But I know, facts are so "mundane".

This is typical - you are against free trade and want subsidised and protected industries at home - shutting out Mexican imports. But then illegal Mexican immigrants come in and form the background of these low wage, low skilled, seasonal jobs. Now you want them out too. Why not just allow Mexicans to stay home and let these industries prosper in Mexico by exporting to the US?

 

Isn't that exactly what the passage of NAFTA was supposed to have accomplished? Did it?

 

Except that NAFTA still allows massive agricultural subsidies by the United States, which makes it hard for Mexican farmers to compete. NAFTA is only half way to free trade.

 

And you and your ilk are determined to take us the rest of the way, just as successfully as you promised with NAFTA.
