I'm sorry I've posted like a billion threads on here, but this will be the last one for a while. I've decided to redo a bunch of the dreads that weren't thick enough from the get-go, but now I can't seem to find ANY help from anyone...and my mom keeps saying that it looks like I'm doing it wrong and that she is sick of helping me do it...ARGGGHHH. I wish I could find someone to help me! I'd even pay them for their services! I already got the whole front of my head fixed, but I can't see what the fuck I'm doing in the back so I can't really do it on my own... This is really frustrating. I actually cried over it yesterday. Gah, how pathetic; I just wish someone would help me finish and then I wouldn't have to worry about them anymore. Blah.
hah my mom kept sayin it looked like i was doing it wrong. The only thing you could do wrong is put stuff like wax and rubberbands in it. if you are creating knots its the right thing. personally i would just quickly and loosely backcomb the leftovers and let nature take care of the rest.
whoa, dont stress out so bad you cry. Its just HAIR!!!! dreads are not supposed to be stressful, they are supposed to be a fun, enriching experience you have for the rest of your life. My dreads look craaaaaaaazy, nothing like i thought they would. They are crazy misshapen, some are short some are long, a couple are STICK THIN and then a few more are crazy congos... i like my hair it reminds me of the roots of a tree, all twisted and different looking. just go with the flow. please. have fun!!!
i have the same problem. my front dreads look great but no one to help on the back and those look like poo. just hang in there. you can stress over it, or you can just do nothing forever and eventually you will have natural dreads
aye i used 2 get annoyed that my dreads werent knottin hey they still arent rly but time will tell just giv them a quick backcomb a few times and leave...
Thank you everyone! I got my mom to help me a few days ago, but she would only help if I did them the way she wanted me to do them...so she sprayed them with accelerator stuff and used wax one time, and then I told her that enough was enough, and I was not going to put anymore of that stuff in my hair. She only wanted to do it to start them out anyhow, so now they are actually doing alright, despite the wax and accelerator. They look pretty marvelous, and they are getting really tight and nice in only 4 days!
It took me a while but I learned that as long as you wear your dreads with pride and charisma that they always look good, even if they are like supper messy and all wiggity-wack.
Here is a picture of them a week after we fixed them up! They look nice and messy, and they are looping wonderfully! Ahhh! So exciting! :]
=) looking like you did it "right" =p If it looks like a jungle then you are off to a good start. My advice(for what it's worth) is to take the rubber bands out, I kept them in for a few months and all I got out of it was dreads that at the tips are really thick most of the way down, and a tiny spike coming out of the bottom(on some) ==/===\===/===\==== ====================== ===/=\==/===/===\=== ^like that =p about the wax,t here are ways of getting it out(I would..) I used wax for maybe 2 months(maybe more, I forget) about twice a week...still paying for it almosnt 9 months later. have fun with them!
absolutely get the wax out! other then that theuy look fine but your maybe gonna unravel alot when you scrub all that crap out
Yeah, I got most of it out so it isn't really that big of an issue right now, and the bands are loose enough that they kind of just hold the hair in sections...they aren't even tight. I can slide them right off whenever I want to. :] I'm planning on taking them off completely in another week or so, I just want to give it a little more time so that they'll be less likely to fall apart...
they look good. when I got mine done, I had bands on the ends too. Everyone told me to take them out, which I did, and then my dreads started to come undone at the ends. Big mistake! It took awhile before I could take the bands out, had to wait for my dreads to tighten. Really what I'm saying is that people will tell you what to do and what not to do, but what I found out is that it also depends on your type of hair. Everyone's different. Just have fun and smile!
