aren't smoking screens for pipes made out of aluminum or tin? and im using and altoids can, is that aluminum or tin?
all you do is take a small nail poke 3 holes together (very close) push the middle of the can down and make a slighty larger hole on the the side.
I made pipes out of alluminum foil for a long time. Then I made a homemade pipe with a block of wood. It works but doesn't give a full experience like the foil did. Foil, 1 hit = REALLY intense buzz, 2 hit = casual high, 3 hit = Out of this world high Wood block, 1 hit = Mild buzz, 2 hit = Intense buzz, 3 hit = casual high
The only experience I've had with foil pipes is an ok high with a nasty head-ache attached to it. I doubt that it's poisonous though.
i have heard that smoking out of tin foil a lot can cause damage to your brain and cause alzeimers (sp.) i have a friend who thinks that he is seriously fucked up from smoking out of tin foil for like 2 years straight.
Honestly, I really don't understand how this isn't common sense. There should be a red flag springing up in your mind whenever you think of using tin foil or alum foil for smoking... I dunno, guys. I dunno.
yeah since tin foil is like aluminum it burns and makes aluminum oxide which gives u alzheimers and so took an apple and hollowed it and made a bowl on the top and put it on my g bong bottle..its so much better, with tobacco of course :spam: "baby's are cute, SPAM is cute, .....SPAM is baby meat? :applause:
This is all a bunch of heresay. No one has provided actual data on the subject. This thread direly needs fact, not opinion. St. Peter's Hospital, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. wmolloy@stpetes.ca There is epidemiological evidence suggesting an association between aluminum in drinking water and Alzheimer's disease (AD), and between aluminum in dialysate and dialysis dementia. The exact role of aluminum in the pathogenesis of these and other dementias is not clear. This study examined the acute effects of aluminum on cognitive function in patients with AD and related dementias and in age-matched and younger volunteers with normal cognitive function. Whether individuals with AD and/or the APOE epsilon4 genotype had enhanced gastrointestinal absorption of aluminum was tested, and whether individuals with elevated blood aluminum concentrations exhibited acute cognitive effects was determined. Subjects were randomized to receive a single dose of aluminum orally (Amphojel plus citrate) for 3 d followed by a 3-wk washout, and then 3 d of matched placebo administration, or vice versa. Serum aluminum levels were measured and the daily dose of Amphojel was adjusted to a target aluminum level between 50 and 150 microg/L. Neuropsychological tests were administered at baseline and 90 min after the third dose of Amphojel or placebo. There was a large interindividual variation in aluminum serum levels in all study groups after the same initial dose of Amphojel. There were no significant differences in neuropsychological test scores after aluminum ingestion in normal volunteers or in patients with cognitive impairment. There was no association between APOE epsilon4 genotype and aluminum absorption. The results did not support the hypothesis that aluminum ingested at these doses produces acute effects on cognition or adverse effects, nor did they reveal that AD patients are more vulnerable to such outcomes. Further inquiry is required to explore any possible association between aluminum and cognition, but controlled trials may be limited by safety concerns. So with that out of the way, does anyone know what blood concentrations of aluminum are after say, 1 serving? Swim always thought that foil had the advantage being single-use/disposable. Not everyone can roll, and merely prefer such a piece. So stop being so "How could it be that someone uses a method that isn't what I use???" Sorry, don't mean to come off mean sounding. But there's 10 pages and little actual information: the way to change that is do something about it, not just complain. "Mexican children will the currency in the future." - Ed
altoids tin - steel. use a magnet on it, trust me. I used to turn them into cig boxes for my friends. aluminum foil is commonly called 'tinfoil'. tin foil isnt' widely available in the states anymore. If you got it from the grocery store, it's aluminum foil. health problems from smoking out of aluminum foil - inconclusive, but why take the risk. paying your dealer +10$ to roll into joints - for 10 you could get a glass pipe, or go to your head shop, buy a cheap mouthpiece, go to the lamp and plumbing departments at your local home despot, and pick up parts to make yourself a fairly nice all metal pipe. And the faucet screens are good, because they are stainless steel, and a good fine mesh. since we're posting on a necro thread anyway, might as well. for a home depot pipe get a central conduit for a lamp, available in the lighting department, a few couplers from plumbing (brass), a large reducer for a bowl, a small brass elbow (most of the fittings you want are a default 1/4" diameter) just experiment, and once you get the knack down, you can buy parts for 5-15$ and build nice brass pipes for your friends for or just for sale in general, for 20-30$ each sale price.
