How hot will it get? Not only will you be able fry an egg on the sidewalk, but if you decide to serve it hard boiled - just toss it into a lake Hotwater
the recently released globial warming report has shown the damage we have done to the climate. the earth's temperture is rising. we have more violent storms, erratic weather pattens, etc. the weather the past 2 weekends which impacted most of the central and eastern u.s. is a good example.
Refering to the question;here in London we've had the 2nd hottest April ever recorded. The heatwave has brought people out in tee-shirts & shorts. We are all set for a summer 'hotter' than last year which was the hottest summer ever recorded. The CO2 emmissions, causing the Global Warming must be man-made because volcanos don't do that much damage. The U.S.A. won't be a party to the Kyoto accords or any international set quotas.China & India are set to increase their CO2 emmissions in the next few years in order to catch up with the industrialised/developed World before they can even begin to impose reductions. Nobody wants to take responsibility for this chaotic mess. It's going to take something pretty dramatic like the Hudson or East River flooding New York City or the River Thames flooding the City of London, before the Politicians finally act. If there was moral integrity in world Politicians rather than short-term financial incentives-the problem would be taken as more of a priority than it is at present.
I want to have kids in the future, yea some day. I am very scared though what i would be putting them into. It sucks to think but its hard not to.
Nasa says to expect temps to 110 degrees in the cities during future summers! http://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/2007-05/nsfc-nss050907.php
Last year was really hot. I believe this year will be the hottest yet. Already in summer, though unofficially, we can expect a long drawn out continous heatwave across the southeast region, esp London and Southend. Though outter london, Kent, will experience variable winds, though it will be hot. Also expect more dramatic thunderstorms due to the build up of hot pressure. My advice would be to stay off the tube. The central and jubilee lines could fuse together but most of all it would be hot underground. As metronet has fucked up for the umpteenth time, I doubt we will get those new air conditioners for major deep underground stations.
Good advice to stay off the London Underground as much as possible. It has no air-conditioning systems at all because when it was built & expanded 100 or so years ago-no one envisaged the type of sweltering summers we get now. Paradoxically-the hot climate produces wetter conditions & so far May in London has been wind & rain & seasonally 'colder' than the usual yearly average;but that is no indication of what will occur in the next few months.
According to analysts, we should enter a global "cooling" stage around 2015, so Im not that concerned about global warming. Plus US is beginning to be atmosphere friendly, but Im far more concerned about China and India polluting our atmosphere than ourselves since in about 10 years almost all new cars will be atmosphere friendly, but its doubtful those countries will be any time soon.
This year we are going to have a searing heat wave. Expect Epping forest fires and travel delays due to tracks buckling.London will recieve the least rain due to being between pressure which takes the rain around us.
i think it will be almost the same, maybe a little hotter but not even noticable. global warming is a gradual thing and wont drastically change the weather in one year, but it will change it a little
im thinkin of dropping college and going off backpacking and traveling, you know seeing the world before its too late
it was predicted on the news a few months back that this year would be hotter and dryer than last year and summer would come earlier. well, yesterday we had terrential rain and its not particularly warm yet. it was much warmer last year. global warming hasn't been mentioned on the TV for a while. i'm confused.
hmmm Ive had a relatively mild summer so far..... and it has been actually cold here in late june (and its technically summer.)
HELP! I'M MELTING.... My heat pump is toast, no coolness round these parts... 109 degrees around here today, too... My brain is now truly fried. Or it will be soon...
The sky is falling....but wait how can I make money off that fear? That's the bigger question. These new lightbulbs they want to make mandatory, I just found out in my area, they have to be returned when they burn out to a few certified sites. Why is that? More energy efficient but harmful to the general environment? I expect the temps around here to be in the triple digits until October, low nineties are a cooling trend for us. It's been that way for a hundred years or more in this valley. Perhaps if we had allowed the hole in the ozone layer to increase, the C02 emissions would escape out into space. Actually it's been a lot milder here than in other summers.
