I am so pissed I wasted 2 hours of my life watching this disgrace they call a "James Bond" movie. It was garbage. Complete and utter garbage. If I wanted to watch this movie I just would have flipped ESPN poker on and then watch a 5 minute clip from an action movie. This was one of the worst movies I've seen in my life, nevermind the worst Bond movie hands down. What was this movie complete trash, I'll tell you: #1 -- BORING. Bond movies are supposed to be exciting and clever, this movie was a boring, drawn out poker game. #2 -- No gadgets. The best gadget they could come up with was a friggin difibulator for christ sakes, are you joking? A DIFIBULATOR AS THE TOP GADGET? #3 -- No car chase. Every Bond movie has some great chase scene in it. But in this movie they tease you in making you think you are escaping the bordem of the poker match with a car chase, but the chase last about 5 seconds when he flips his car. #4 -- Lack of hot cars. Bond movies are known for having classy cars. However, in the begining we see bond driving a what? A FORD FOCUS?? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? Is this was bond has been reduced to? Some type of Ford Focus hybrid soccor mom car? Pleeeeease. The two classy cars in the movie were just a snippett you barely even saw. #5 -- Ugliest Bond girl ever. You think they could have at least found someone hot for this movie. Yeah, sure this girl looks alright, but nothing for a bond girl. The first girl in the movie he met should have had the lead role, anyone, but this girl. Bond girls need to be hot, she was not. #6 -- Lack of action. There was barely any action scenes in this. He chases a black guy at the begining, and that was great, but other than that, it was boring as hell. #007 -- The overall lack of 007 feel. Bond movies are known as the ultimate guy movies because of 3 simple ingredients: Action, Hot Women, Hot Cars. This movie lacked all 3. Sure, there were two hot chicks, but you barely saw then, instead some average Suzzie got the lead role. In addition, this guy was the worst James Bond ever. His huge nose, wrinkled and scarred face, and overall look was terrible. I am better looking than this guy, Bond is supposed to be a good looking charming man -- not Joe Shmoe. CASINO ROYALE SUCKS! This guy better not make another bond movie. Producers better smarten up and give Christian Bale a call to make the next several Bond movies. Bale matches to visibile discription of a James Bond with his looks, he is an action star, a tremendous actor, and to top it off: he's British! He has a heavy natural British accent that would be PERFECT for Bond. And listen to Bale naturally talk, he could easily pull off the Bond speach! http://movies.go.com/feature?featureid=855392
I thought the film was good But at least in number 6 of your critique, you admit the opening chase scene (on foot) was very well done Hotwater
I disagree i thought this was one of the best bond movies ive seen in a long time. Yeah sure it doesnt have all that Hot Flashy Cliche Sexy Campy feel to it like the other bond films had, But ive been a fan of bond ever since i saw The man with the golden gun back when i was in middle school and that was as cheesy as i seen em "Midgets, and hall of mirrors and whatnot, Elaborate yet unesscesarry plans of fortune and world domination/terror/goverment conspiracy/stealing candy from babies" But if ya read the Book Casino Royale was based on, its almost pretty much the same thing as this movie aside from the modern differences, Casino Royale was THE BEGINNING of 007's career as an agent, there where no gadgets because it's basically his first day on the job. Also casino royale was supposed to establish his character as james bond. Besides if ya want all that flashiness watch some roger moore or Pierce Brosnon
hey i thought he was a good bond and he is good looking im a girl i shud know And it may not be as flashy with all the gagets but isn't this one suposed to be set before all the the other ones. i really enjoyed the film and can't wait to watch it again and uve got to admit it had some good one liners in too!
nah, i think you're just a dumb ass. it was actually intense, unlike almost all of the other ones. i this was the best one made.
I liked Brosnan as an actor, but the last few movies before Casino just pissed me off. I thought this one did a good job of going back to the feel of the older films (what the creators said they were trying to do). It was intense and kept me on my seat even though it lacked the over-the-top (often in a bad way) action of some of the others. It's obvious that the director took some ideas from the success of the Bourne series and restyled Bond as more believable and less campy. Taking out the ridiculous gadgets (an invisible car? c'mon) did a lot in those areas.
I never really cared for Bond movies, but I thought Casino Royale was great. Craig was a rougher, less refined Bond and it worked.
I went to bed early one night and when I got up the next morning my bf said he'd watched Casino Royale after I went to sleep and it was horrible. He was really pissed that he actually paid to see the movie, so I doubt I will ever see it.
I thought Casino Royale was way way better than any of the Brosnan flicks Christian Bale is my favorite actor, though, Daniel Craig is perfect for the role and Christian Bale is Welsh by the way
it wasn't the worst by any means. shit, look at die another day. and bronson, i think you're hugging batman's nuts a little too hard.
i rather liked it. and it WASN'T a "bond" flick, as such, but intended as a generic satire of the genre. entirely asided from its satyric aspect, i found it entirely enjoyable on its own merits. i'm guessing this might be in reference to some remake i haven't seen though, since i'm pretty sure the casino royal i saw, had all of the origeonal bond actors in it, along with peter sellers, that, or peter sellers playing each of them, i forget for sure which. i seem to recall there was a pretty cool sequence involving a railroad museum as well, or was that something else? i'm not entirely sure about that anymore either. i just remember the last time i saw it, which was ages ago, it was pretty darn cool. has someone perhapse made an entirely different movie by the same name, then the one i remember seeing? =^^= .../\...
Brosnan wanted to play Bond since he was in college, but noone should ever have let him - I much prefer the Casino Royale flick with Peter Sellers, and never watch Brosnan attempt Bond.
Actually it wasn't very Bond like. I don't think it would have killed them to start out with a great song and naked girls. I don't think it would have hurt to have some gadgets and car chase. It's like they were reinventing the whole thing. Nevermind any Bond movies you've seen before, this is the new Bond and really, it's just an action flick. However, divorced from the Bond name, it was a pretty good action flick. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the looks of the new guy. Espcially since I thought he didn't look right before seeing the film. I liked both the hot female leads. I thought the house in Venice scenes were pretty great. I enjoyed the naked bond getting tortured scenes! Woot! So I enjoyed the film. It just wasn't very Bond like.
I disagree ^ the lack of gadgets is easily explained by this being based off the first novel and being a prequel to all the others and I thought the title song was pretty great...
It just wasn't a Bond film in the Bond formula. It was more of a reset of Bond, like "bond2.1 before he fucked anything that walked, had cool gadgets, a great song, naked girls in silhouette, a signature villain and tons of hottie it girls." However it was a pretty enjoyable film without the Bond expectations. And yo, naked new guy being tortured but making jokes! Cool!
I just watched it and I thought is was just great. I especially liked the foot chase at the beggining of the film. Since Sean C. I thnk the new bond is the best yet. He has the bond look and attitude. I was a little dissapointed in the bond girls, but the intro was great; very trippy.
the movie is looked good for me.. Though there are no gadgets being used in the movie.. the story is still great...
I've seen all of them and without a doubt, it's the best Bond film. Sean Connery was pretty badass, but the gadgets and one-liners made him a bit goofy. Daniel Craig is totally vicious, and looks like he doesn't give a shit about anything. I mean, who cares if you're wearing a jetpack if the accompanying helmet makes you look retarded? It's better to just have a Bond who can beat the shit out of someone with his fists and then clean up and rejoin the card game. Bond is supposed to be a badass, not a gentleman... I mean, he KILLS people. Brosnan was probably the worst out of all of them-- he brought absolutely nothing to the character. It was like they just cast him because he was good-looking and had the right kind of accent.
I loved this one, I thought it was the best since the Sean Connery movies. It actually had a plot. As Far as Christian Bale, yeah he's a great actor, but he's Batman, he can't be Bond too.
