I'm looking for a good, inexpensive hand drum. I am so interested in participating in the drum circles in the area. I figured I ask incase anyone has recently "upgraded" their drum and is interested in selling. If not, where did YOU get your drum?

great man thanks, I was hesitant about ebay because I don't really know what I'm looking at or for, but if I know a specific company or person that would be great. I'll keep an eye out for the Tulsa Imports

hey eagle, me and spooky will be at odunde. i saw people setting up for it the other day. when does it start? i may get a drum to add to my collection. actually if i find a really nice djembe, then i'll be willing to sell one of my current drums.

that would be sweet umm odunde i believe starts at 11 with the parade to the river at 12
    but lasts all day
umm if you could do that that would help. i offered to pick her up 1 & get it to her at the gathering, but had to pay sunshines way back to ohio for her singing job so i'm lil too broke to buy anyone anything right now

i got mine special order from the local music shop. i really dont dig the idea of a goat skin drum head. i got a REMO djembe because it is the only company that i know of that uses synthetic heads.

a djembe is the best invest you will ever make. trust.

    ugh i hate synthetic heads
they sound like crap & dont feel right at all
natural wood & skin is the only way, i dont believe in killing trees or animals but the spirit of the drum is in the combination of the 2

my djembe sounds amazing. the bass is so deep, and the the slaps pull everything together. wow, just thinking about it makes me want to put down the computer and pick up my love drum.....

    ....ok, I'm back.
anyway. i advise y'all to go synthetic. Ive tried both kinds of heads, and i simply play better knowing that I'm playing on a synthetic head. a djembe can only sound as good as the rhythm you put into it.

i understand we all have different morals, ideas, and beliefs. and I'm glad we can all bring that together in the circle.
