    So awesome.
I just got fired/quit from my job because of my dreadlocks
They decided I looked too "unprofessional" and told me I "had to" take them out, and I told her I "had to" find another job then.
My dreads mean way too much to me to just...take them out.
They are seriously putting my life back on track, and I'm not about to give them up anytime soon.
Everyone was so suprised that I'd quit over my hair, but I was suprised that they'd fire me over my hair.
    Oh well.
The dreads will stay with me forever; the job was just temporary anyway.
    :]

    congrats :)
    what was your job?
seriusly i know colledge professors with dreads
theres nothing unprofessional about them just some bosses are close minded & arent worth working for in the 1st place

personaly, i'm alergic to bosses & see no need for them
why shoul;d we work to line theyre pockets?
dont u love how the title boss alows them to work less & get paid more then everyone "under them" who does all the actual work?

Oh wow. I can't believe they fired you over your dreads. The last time I was at the hospital there was a nurse with long beautiful dreads (she had them for 3 years).

A lot of people give me shit about my dreads but I'm a stay at home mom so I don't have to worry about a boss.

Good for you for standing up for yourself!

    *hugs*

Thanks everyone! I know, even my mom supported me, and in a way, we both feel it was discrimination to fire me because of my hair, but because we're unlike the majority of america, we didn't bring them to court to try to win money over it, lol. Now I am happily looking for a new job, and any prospective bosses would clearly see my hair before they hired me, so it would be fair game.
    :]

yeah, they can't fire you for your hair, its a company law/rule, and it is called discrimination, it would be like telling a pregnant woman, hey, your stomach is unprofessional, you "have" to get an abortion...its along the same lines, they cant say that to you, UNLESS, they have a very strict company code, and from the looks of it, you would have to be an executive assistant or something along those lines, to be considered in that group, so you could have told him to fuck off, and he wouldnt have been able to do anything about it.
