Have you or do you ever walk downtown on the sidewalk or go into stores, even if they say must wear shoes go in there barefooted anyway? I do! I get stares from ppl, but I don't really care!

I've been confronted and asked to leave about 3 times by people working in food establishments. All of them cheap pizza joints, fast food, and once at the University Commons.

Ironically, the fancy high-priced gourmet restaurants in town serve me very politely and ignore my feet. I guess I've been going there for so many years and have always tipped well so they really treat me like an honorable guest.

But I have to tell you just how rude each one of the people who asked me to leave were. They were all male, and really confrontational about it. They seemed so offended, as if I had caused great harm, and they each gave me the bit about the State Health Code, blah blah blah. Then they got really upset when I pulled out my State Health Code book to show them there was no such code. It was as if I had insulted them and they each went into aggressive modes and it was like they were ready to strangle me or something. Very poor manners! This was the same situation each of the three times.

But heck, that was only 3 times in nearly 20 years of going barefoot! So horray for barefoot-friendly towns!

No one ever says anything to me, I have had a few people ask "doesn't it hurt to walk around without shoes on" but thats it

I got to a coffee shop all the time that girls behind the counter don't wear shoes at and it doesn't bother me, they don't put their feet into my drinks....... so why should it bother someone if I go in to buy coffee without shoes on, more dirt sticks to the bottom of shoes than it does to the bottom of my feet right????????

The few places that really give me grief, tell me that they don't care if I take my business elsewhere. Doesn't matter if it's one of the big corporations, or just a small local shop. I'm informed that I won't be missed. As long as this is true, we don't have much power, as our numbers are VERY small.

This saturday night i've been playing pool with a couple of friends , at the bowling. It was fun to observe the looks of the bowling players going back and forth with all those shoes both in their hands and worn gawking at me who hadnt any footwear at all . Full comfort VS encumberment.
On the other side the two gals with me didnt even take off their high heeled shoes while on the beach (well actually the other wore sandals) but that's their choice, I try to be tolerant with freaks ;) .
